Installing the deck hatches on our aluminum expedition sailboat turned out to be WAY more complicated than we expected. This was one of those projects that kept us awake at night for months… We knew that as soon as we started welding large hatch frames into the deck, there was a real risk of warping the entire structure again. And after all the distortion problems we already had with the deck during construction, we absolutely could not afford to get this wrong. When we were almost finished we found a boat that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). On the season 4 we sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean), we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. The last season we are building a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life. We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams.
