During this visit, our team explored new tools, polishing compounds, and sanding systems, including solutions designed for robotic sanding and finishing applications. At Astilleros Progreso, we continuously work to improve our manufacturing processes by combining advanced technology, technical expertise, and hands-on experience. Our robotic arms are part of this ongoing effort to explore more consistent, efficient, and controlled finishing processes for composite boat components. We caught up with them at the Annapolis Sailboat Show to learn about their one-of-a-kind summer camp at sea, where kids and teens can earn ASA certifications, explore the Caribbean, and experience life aboard a sailboat! 🌊 What makes SeaTrek BVI special? SeaTrek offers liveaboard summer camps for ages 10–20, where campers spend one to three weeks living aboard 46–48-foot catamarans. With 25 years of experience, SeaTrek combines sailing, scuba diving, marine science, and outdoor adventures into an unforgettable summer experience. ⛵ What can campers learn about sailing? Everyone gets hands-on experience! Campers learn to handle lines, raise sails, tack, jibe, and take the helm. SeaTrek offers ASA 101 and 103 certifications, giving young sailors the opportunity to develop real sailing skills. Some even continue building sea time toward their captain’s license! ⚓ What’s your favorite part about teaching sailing? Watching young sailors take control of a 48-foot catamaran! The spacious boats allow everyone to participate, observe, and practice sailing techniques. Beyond sailing, campers can earn scuba diving certifications, from beginner Open Water all the way to instructor-level training. ¡TREINTA NUDOS DE VIENTO PARA LLEGAR A RÍO DE JANEIRO! ⛵🌬️ Después de navegar hasta Río, nos encontramos con una llegada bastante movida: más de 30 nudos de viento, lluvia y todo lo que implica encontrar un buen lugar para dejar el barco seguro. En este capítulo compartimos buena parte de esa navegación, cómo encontramos nuestro primer fondeo y cómo, después, conseguimos una boya para estar más tranquilos. También mostramos algo que muchas veces pasa desapercibido cuando llegás a una ciudad desde el agua: dónde y cómo dejar el dinghy para bajar a tierra, recorrer y disfrutar del lugar. Nos fuimos hasta el Pan de Azúcar, recorrimos parte de su sendero y descubrimos que el cable de la antena del VHF se había soltado. Así que tocó volver a subir al mástil para solucionar el problema.
