Rich captured this incredible moment with the same juvenile whale we both swam with. Watch how he glides in slow and graceful, rolls his body, and even gives a little wave with his pectoral fin. Then suddenly… BOOM — one powerful tail swipe sends a huge cloud of bubbles over Rich! He had to swim off to the left just to see again. At one point, Rich even dives down deeper — and the whale song becomes loud, haunting, and absolutely beautiful. It’s one of those rare moments you feel in your chest. If you look closely, you’ll spot two more humpback whales cruising in the background, keeping their distance but totally aware of what’s happening. The small islet of Peristera, which is part of Alonissos (the Sporades island group), has a shipwreck that is partly underwater and partly visible above the surface. We went there, jumped into the crystal-clear water with our snorkeling gear, and saw the ship underwater using our GoPro. Lots of fish and rusted parts. We found it a fascinating sight! And with the drone, we had an even better view of the shipwreck.

► In Amsterdam, we met up with Stephen Weatherley, CEO and founder of Archipelago Yachts, and he presented the shipyard’s current direction and unveiled their current projects. His vision is based on an approach that places engineering, design, and propulsion systems at the forefront, applied to the demanding market sector of aluminum powercats. ► Based in Hampshire, on the south coast of England, Archipelago Yachts designs and builds motor catamarans from 40 to 80 feet in length, with construction on the Isle of Wight. This organization allows for strong continuity between design, engineering, and manufacturing, in an industrial environment with a long maritime tradition. ► From the outset, Weatherley was keen to emphasize the fundamental choice of aluminum: “We exclusively build aluminum catamarans. The entire range is designed around this material because it allows us to work on the structure, durability, and integration of systems right from the start.” ► He also champions the material for its structural qualities, longevity, and recyclability. The platforms are designed from a global perspective, with particular attention being paid to the architecture of the hulls, weight distribution, and systems’ installation. ►Propulsion is one of the shipyard’s major areas of development. Archipelago now offers several configurations to suit different uses. “We offer conventional diesel, diesel-electric hybrid, and we are about to launch a fully electric model,” Weatherley told us. The yard’s powercats are designed to accommodate these different types of propulsion without major modifications. I enjoy the solitude of sailing solo, but as they say, "No man is an island." That's why I always enjoy when a friend drops by. This is my mate, John in his OzGoose, 'Tadpole'—a very capable boat that I always enjoy sailing alongside. On a recent trip camping on the shore of the stunning Lake Glenbawn in the Hunter Valley, I took my little fibreglass clinker, 'Sparkle'—a 10 foot lug rigged dinghy I can pretty much drag anywhere—when who should slip into my quiet harbour!
