Pippi på Fair Isle! **Det finns en ö som alla besökare hyllar undantagslöst! Fair Isle! **Stardust med besättning seglade förbi Fair Isle då vi seglade mot Orkney från Shettland sommaren 2024. Men nu sattsar vi på flera turer dit under sommar 2025. Skepparn har dock varit på ön tidigare och kan bara stämma in i lovsången om ön. Den gången var det ombord på en Ovni 43 i sällskap av kollegorna Martin Sande och en livs levande Kapten Krok alias Thomas. Jag fick möjligheten att ta tåget från Göteborg för att ansluta i Bergen, Norge där Thomas stod reda med motorerna på tomgång och vi lämnade direkt. Överseglingen den gången var händelselös och stilla, det var en del motorgång. Men när vi närmade oss Far Isle så hade dimman lagt sig ensligt klassisk Shettlandsmodell. Inloppet är smalt så alla händerna var på däck för att spana vägen mellan klipporna för att komma in. Efter allt jag hade hört om ön så tog jag en tur på ön direkt efter ankomst. Det blev en av de finaste ö upplevelserna jag haft. Det var där jag insåg vad folk talar om då de uttrycker sin passion för Puffins och anan sjöfågel. Det är speciellt att på så nära håll kunna följa så mycket fågel. Det är ju heller ingen nackdel att fåglarna ser ut som om de var uppsminkade som clowner och kutar runt på land likt dykare med grodfötter. Bilderna i dessa bilspel är från detta besöket på Fair Isle. Att skepparn och så många andra får Pippi på Fair Isle är en av orsakerna till att Stardust kommer segla tre turer till Shettland 2025. ——-

Jane took over the saloon today so that she could tackle insulating the starboard size, normally hidden behind the settee back, which we use as a "storage" dumping ground. This is the first layer of insulation designed to move the condensation point away from the hull. Between the stringers (which are foam surrounded by fibregalsss) we will have 40mm of xps sheet. They will be airtight sealed at the edges so it shouldn't matter that there will be an air gap between the foil backed foam and the fairly rigid xps. The xps will be held in place by 100mm plywood strips screwed to the stringers. There will be a narrow timber strip on the outside so that the screws don't punch through the thin plywood. We are painting the xps and the ply will be painted in a contrasting colour. You can see this in our top 10 interior changes video (set as the related video). We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP.
