Da unser heutigen Segler wirklich sehr jung ist, haben wir, um Rückwärts-drehen bei der Seitenwechsel zu vermeiden, als Zwischenschritt "P.2 Knie auf dem Schott (Pinnenausleger auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite) - Seitwärts-bewegen - P.3 Knie auf dem Schott (Rückhandsteuern)" eingeführt. Das Händen-wechsel kommt aber, obwohl er so jung ist, wie immer, erst dann, wenn der Kurs stabil ist. So kann schon ein kleiner Junge bereits nach einige 10 Minuten das Boot nur mit Pinnenausleger sicher steuern. Dies ermöglicht, das überflüssige Abgewöhnen des Pinnen-direkt-Anfassens (bei mir strengst verboten!) zu sparen. Nach nicht mal eine Stunde beherrscht er das Seitenwechsel sogar mit Schot-Führung.

We pilots want to fly. But not necessarily as passengers. However, once in a while we have to proceed from airport A to airport B, from where we start our duty. Today we fly from Palma to Stuttgart, where we will take an empty aircraft and fly it to Berlin. Empty, because we won't have any passengers. We call it ferry flight. This sector is a very short one, only 45-50 mins. We will get rewarded with a beautiful approach and probably the best pizza ever after landing.

We had warm sunshine and crisp winds ranging from 8 to 18 knots in the Charleston Harbor as we sailed along the extensive Battery wall and near the marsh banks just off Waterfront Park. It's never too cold to get out on the water, ketch the wind in our sails, and check out the goings on in Charleston's Harbor. A tanker from Panama anchored in the federal mooring field and a dredge picking up the ocean floor and placing it in a barge floating alongside was of great interest for our afternoon out on the water. No reef in the main sail and great winds to move SV Shenanigan along nicely for our Christmas sail with family and friends. What an awesome way to spend an afternoon hanging out and catching up while getting some fresh air. Great sunshine and superb crew. It's winter in Charleston, let's celebrate life, untie the lines and get out there in the New Year!
