But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to do... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on the boat. The trip was cancelled two months later for legitimate reasons.  Since I made my way to Nova Scotia I decided to discover this beatiful province before going back to Montreal I have not given up on my dream of sailing. 27 boats and 124+ crew will tomorrow enjoy some lighter winds as we see a return to sailing with the West Offshore Products Coastal Sprint. There is now a shorten course and shorten finish added with PredictWind indicating winds dropping off as the crews turn to return to the finish. It's great to see so many join the record coastal sprint (category 3) fleet numbers and celebrate the return to ocean sailing. For those boats that have AIS, you can monitor their progress via marine traffic or via the ORCV website or social pages #orcv

In this episode of Off Watch, we speak to Carolijn Brouwer, a three-time competitor in The Ocean Race, who sailed to victory with Dongfeng Race Team in that epic final leg of the last race, finishing in her home port of The Hague. But before she was an offshore sailor, Carolijn was an incredibly accomplished dinghy sailor in the 470, Laser Radial, Europe and Tornado class, winning World Sailor of the Year in 1998 and racing in the Olympics in 2000, 2004 and 2008. We learn about how she transitioned into the offshore game and get insight into how Dongfeng Race Team won the last edition of The Ocean Race.
