We sail from Sanibel Island to the Dry Tortugas. Jordan pulls an all nighter with strong winds and choppy seas. We wake up to a large pod of Atlantic Spotted dolphins playing in our bow wake and arrive at Fort Jefferson, an abandoned fort which is now an incredible National Park at the very tip of the Florida Keys.

Hey Y’all, The Caloosahatchee River Canal offers the last leg across the Okeechobee Waterway to reach Florida’s west coast. We're Esther and Michael, an American couple with writing and photography backgrounds. In 2017, we sold our loft in Atlanta and moved aboard a 1994 Island Packet 35 named Hope that needed some love (and boat work after sitting on the hard for over three years!). As we learn how to become better sailors, we’re especially interested in living small to gain abundance—cultivating sustainable living habits and having more time for nature and art! And we're learning about ways to 'live small' by reducing our waste footprint on and off the boat! Degreased the engine, replaced some failed gaskets, and diagnosed the stumbling idle issue. The biggest downside to owning a classic van for a live-in or camper is the old components like the engine. It requires the proper maintenance and some of the work can easily be done yourself. Like degreasing the engine! Simply cleaning up the engine can also help you do diagnose where oil leaks are coming from. Clean it up, drive it, and you will easily be able to spot what gaskets have failed. Take it to your mechanic if you would prefer but if you have a similar Ford Van or perhaps the same 300 ci straight six ford motor, I hope some of this content is helpful to you! The greasy carpet: Give a comment if you noticed the SUPER greasy carpet! I pan across the cab of the van as I go to fire up the engine after everything is reassembled and show the horribly greasy nasty old carpet. Not to worry - I replaced it! The carpet got SO greasy from scrubbing the engine with degreaser on it and rinsing the engine with water. With plans to replace the carpet anyways, this was a great way to clean up the mess easily! Fixing a stumbling idle I attempted replacing the MAP sensor, EGR valve, IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), to no avail. I also replaced any vacuum lines that were brittle or cracked that could present a vacuum leak. No luck. The issue turned out to be two vacuum lines both connecting to the front of the throttle body and they were full of what I thought was grease (as mentioned in the video). It turned out to be little pieces of the rubber vacuum lines as the rubber has deteriorated over the years. I see this issue searched and discussed on the internet and other youtube videos and perhaps you have the same issue and I recommend thoroughly cleaning the throttle body and replacing all vacuum lines. Stay TUNED for the next video covering this ultimate stealth camper van build. Now that the engine is running smooth, its back to the build! Traveling through Western Australia looking for potential locations for leasing opportunities. Western Australia is going through a modern day gold rush, in the leasing and ground acquisition area. As there is a lot of money being made, Large mining companies find it very difficult to acquire ground to expand the leases, so what I have to do, is buy up other small leases to have ground to access for Mining. Black Gold has recently attended a integrated government supported training seminar, to explain how the process works. While we were at the seminar we met many professional minors and investors. One of the best knowledge we took away, was from one of the investors who recently sold his lease for $800,000 Au to a Chinese company. His original investment was $7000. He said he wasn’t sure if the Chinese company was ever going to mine or they were just locking away the gold reserves. And in the future could resell a lease for even more. This is a fantastic opportunity for Black Gold Sands to do the same and acquire some cash to further expand the The company. If you’re interested in finding out more and getting involved in the company please contact Jerry Heinz direct. +63 917 517 6803

The Multihull Company has developed a team of leading professionals who are some of the most knowledgeable in their field of expertise. We wanted to take some time to introduce you to our team of agents from around the world in our new video series introducing our agents. Next up, Senior TMC Broker in Annapolis, Karl Reed. Captain Karl Reed is one of The Multihull Company’s youngest brokers but is perhaps one of the most ambitious and hardworking. Karl not only has over 70,000 nautical miles under his belt but he is also a co-founder of Rhea Yacht Management, which operates on the US East Coast and in the Caribbean. As a kid, Karl spent his formative years going to sailing camps along the Potomac River, near Washington, DC, and eventually transitioned into teaching at them as a summer job. Karl’s love for sailing grew naturally as he grew up near Annapolis, Maryland, one of the premier sailing destinations within the continental United States while making occasional trips to the Caribbean to visit his birthplace, Haiti. When Karl was 18 he moved to Cape Town for a year to acquire his yachting license under the legendary Offshore Sailor & Clipper Skipper, David Immelman. This training further cemented Karl into sailing and eventually catapulted him into running an Expedition Yacht in the Indian Ocean & Northern Madagascar. From there, Karl gravitated back to sailing performance catamarans around the US East Coast & Caribbean, along with trans-Atlantic trips to Northern Europe. After years in the industry, Karl has garnered a great group of friends and resources which have helped him continue to be able to sail, manage, & broker vessels around the world. Whether you are nearby and looking to buy or sell your catamaran in Annapolis, need catamaran dockage in Annapolis, or just want someone friendly and knowledgeable to speak with, give Captain Karl Reed a call. In this episode of Liveaboard Sailing Podcast we talk all about liveaboard life at the intersection of sustainability and wanderlust. My guests, George and Sinead from Electric Vagabonds, share their story of transitioning to the liveaboard lifestyle, making the transition to an electric sailboat and off-grid life in England. This couple is chasing the opportunity to travel the world fossil fuel free, and I ask them about their decision to go electric and what their experience has been so far. We also talk about working remotely from a sailboat, surviving winters on a sailboat in the UK and more. #liveaboard #sailingpodcast #electricboats Listen to all the episodes of Liveaboard Sailing Podcast: Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/37TIrLj Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3ASJMie Google Podcasts: https://bit.ly/3j0VbXb Audible: https://adbl.co/37W0gcA Acast: https://bit.ly/3jZZVLT Links mentioned in this episode ⬇️ 📸 https://www.instagram.com/electricvagabonds/ 🖥 Plugboats.com 🖥 Sailelectric.com 🟡 Let's be social! Distance covered in 5 hours: 35 miles Departure Sunday, May 29 – 06:15 a.m. Weather: drizzly and around 17 degrees Wind: NW, 20-16 kts According to the calculations, we want to be in front of Brünsbuttel lock (50 miles) by 2pm at the latest for optimal use of the current with us. Assuming an average of about 8 knots (current and tailwind), we’d prefer to sail out no later than 06.30. So set the alarm for 5.30. (Yes, we know it’s a holiday, but just don’t quite get it right). At 6.00, an ‘innocent passer-by’ walks by who is prepared to cast off all four lines and, because we sail away at low tide, towers over 3 metres above us from the quay. And so we are off (accelerated) at 06:00. In port, we tidy up everything (lines and fenders) and sail out. The bag with ‘grab food’ and a jug of tea are ready. So out at 6.15 and ‘ahead of the pack’ we sail towards the Elbe in heavy clouds and occasional ‘drizzle showers’. A smooth ride despite still some waves after so many days of strong winds (even though it is still blowing a small 5 bft, but you don’t notice that much when it comes from behind). At the system on the river we report on channel 16, are greeted and requested to go to channel 18 after the crossing and then follow the radio traffic as entertainment “Hello skipper of the ….., I see you passing me by on the port side which is all super, but please give me a little more room according to the rules and regulations” and “Captain of the ….., if you are not speeding up, please allow me to pass you at your starboard side” Answer: ” Hello Skipper, no problem, I cannot speed up, so be my guest”. Replied by: “Okay, no problem, we’re no speedboat either, so it may take a while to pass you by”. 😉 As Patty is still suffering from a headache and dizziness, Robin gets a request if we could still please check at Cuxhaven to see if there is a spot for the WJ. A relatively short sailing day seems like a good idea to Pat. Given the drizzly weather, it’s no punishment to berth earlier and fortunately, Cuxhaven, so familiar to us, has a place at the entrance…..Cost €70. We have power, so we do the laundry, tidy up a bit, try to puncture the dirty water drain again to improve the flow, work on the reports and videos for the youtube channel, watch Max’s race and have a nice dinner at the harbour restaurant…. Tomorrow around 08.00 we will set sail for the Kieler Canal…..(North East Channel from Brunsbuttel tot Kiel) #cuxhaven #sailing #germany

Raroia was our first stop in the Tuamotus Archipelago. We arrived anxious about the navigational hazards of these unique atoll formations of the Pacific, but soon learned the tricks of the trade and sailed smoothly in its huge lagoon doted with beautiful ¨bommies¨ (surfacing reefs inside the lagoon) and ¨motus¨ (palm fringed islands on the outer reef). Its coral reef in its only pass into the lagoon, is the most amazing marine environment that I have seen, and perhaps will ever see in my life, both due to its living coral and abundance of fish . A spear fishers dream we loaded Shaima with fresh grouper and snapper! Watch this video and you will see under and over the water videos showcasing this paradisiacal atoll!
