Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. In 2023, Martin and Maiken joined by their two kids, Paja and Una, set sails for the big adventure with their boat, Skjoldmøen - www.skjoldmoen.dk. The Danish family of four had worked for years to fulfill their dream of sailing the world for three years. In June 2023, they embarked on the journey of a lifetime and set course for the open seas. It was the culmination of a dream which seemed almost impossible for years, but they made it happen and they are currently sailing under the power of Elvstrøm Sails in French Polynesia. Oversea’er is a 1987 Mariner 3400, proudly offered for sale through YOTI in Queensland. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/mariner-3400-oversea-er Built by Mariner Boats Australia, the 3400 is a popular and well-built cruiser known for its roomy layout, solid construction, and user-friendly design. Originally designed with weekend boating in mind, the layout also suits the keen fisherman looking for more comfort for family or guests. The saloon flows nicely from the rear cockpit, with large windows letting in the natural light and creating a bright, open feel. There are two helm stations—one in the saloon and one on the flybridge—both with full engine controls and navigation gear. This setup makes handling the boat easy, whether you’re cruising offshore or docking in tight spots. The galley is located midships and open to the saloon, which adds to the sense of space. It comes equipped with a two-burner gas stove and grill, microwave, and fridge, plus a portable Dometic fridge/freezer that doubles as extra seating in the saloon. Her house batteries have been upgraded to Lithium. Accommodation includes a forward V-berth with an infill to form a generous double, a second cabin to starboard with a double and a bunk bed, plus a convertible settee in the saloon—sleeping up to seven in total. To port is the head, with an electric toilet and enclosed shower. A staircase leads from the cockpit to the flybridge, where you'll find the upper helm and guest seating. It’s a great spot to enjoy the ride, protected by a full bimini and clears for comfort in any weather. Powered by twin Volvo Penta TAMD41A 200hp diesel engines with modest hours, Oversea’er is easy to handle and performs well. Cruising at around 8.5 knots, she uses approximately 18–20L per hour. Top speed is around 19–20 knots, with a comfortable planing speed of 15 knots. Currently berthed at RQYS in Manly, Queensland, this well-maintained vessel is ready for her next adventure.
