This week we leave our anchorage in Bull Creek where we take a short trip to Wright River right on the South Carolina/Georgia border. From there we cross into Georgia, cross the Savannah River and make our way thru a series of rivers to Hell Gate where we anchor in the Vernon River waiting for favorable tide conditions to pass thru Hell Gate the next morning. This episode we visited the world famous Whitehaven beach, this is one to add on the bucket list. This place is absolutely stunning! With beautiful walking trails and crystal clear waters, you could spend a few days just soaking up the sun and views. We return back Airley Beach and enjoy some much needed retail therapy - yes I am a princess 😂 Catching up with boat jobs, we had the help from Des, the legend! We legit saved ourselves thousands of dollars, with the help of Des and a foreign language, YouTube tutorial on how to do the repair. Then we encountered a rat on board, not sure how this fury little bugger got on board. But we were very happy that Josh caught him. The Port of Airley Marina, in my opinion is one of the best marinas we have visited. With the convenience of Woolworths a short walk away and liquor store. Plus many nearby restaurants, a huge kids park and a 10 minute walk to the lagoon to cool down. It was on the pricy side, at $150 per night. Monica is back as we struggled to find time with our conflicting schedules and July’s weather forecasts to go sailing. We ended up picking a day and just going out. The day was heavily overcasted with bouts of spitting rain but we were committed. With Monica onboard to help film, we decided to capture the simple moments of the mechanics of going out for a sail. Join us as we leave the dock, fuel up, raise the sails, sail in very light winds, drop the sails, and return to the dock. While not as glamorous as sailing the tropical Tradewinds with a boat full of bikinis, it does demonstrate the steps that must be taken to eventually head to that horizontal line that calls us.
