Here is a yacht that will give you and possibly your mates options. Pearl very kindly invited me back for a sea trial of the 95 which unfortunatley gor cancelled due to the weather but I was still able to spend a few hours touring and discovering this 30m yacht that could be perfect for some of you guys stepping into your first fully crewed vessel. I first discovered Pearl Yachts at the Cannes Boat Show last year when I had a tour of the 62 and 95 in their range. I was fortunate to be invited on the press day for this new Pearl Yachts 72 over in Palma, Mallorca which is an amazing little island in the Med and part of Spain. This British brand is taking the competition to Princess and Sunseeker by producing a very high quality build at a cheaper price by utilizing their manufacturing facility in China. I've seen this before with an Australian Whitehaven Yachts built in Taiwan and I have to say they have come out with an excellent product that does meet the European brands head on in terms of quality. Sure it won't have the brand recognition that Princess & Sunseeker enjoy in Australia but the cost savings are real and the argument to put a vessel like this into charter is also a solid one. Three years ago, Huub went to Guatemala, found this boat that was supposedly ready to sail. He fell in love with it a bit quickly. And then found out after he paid $18,000, it was more ready to sink than sail. But he did not quit! After no shortage of blood, sweat & tears. His sheer grit & determination won through. Eventually he made this sailboat just ready enough to sail all the way out of Guatemala, to Jamaica, and throughout the Eastern Caribbean. Even though he has no life raft or emergency equipment. A testament to his conviction to become a true sailor. Something most could never do.
