Ein Orkan bewegt sich rasend schnell auf uns zu. Schutz vor Starkwind aus NW finden wir für unsere MariaNoa ggf. in Amanu, keinesfalls in Hao. Der Wind drückt seit Tagen die Brandung auf die Einfahrt – die Wellen sind riesig. Das ablaufende Wasser hat sich sichtlich verspätet und zeigt die stehenden Wellen noch meilenweit aufs offene Meer hinaus. Uns ist klar: wir warten mindestens noch eine Stunde bevor wir unseren Versuch starten. Allerdings liegt uns der Orkan im Nacken. Wir beobachten, dass die standing waves außerhalb des Passes immer kleiner werden und wagen unsere Passage 1 ½ Stunden später. Wir haben keine Strömung mehr im Pass und nehmen direkt Kurs auf die Anchorage im Nordwesten. Im zweiten Versuch finden wir Schutz hinter einem Motu mit hohen Palmen. Während es bei uns noch recht ruhig ist, beobachten wir, dass der Orkan nur wenige hundert Meter von uns entfernt ist. Alle losen Dinge werden von Deck geschafft, der Zweitanker vorbereitet. Als der Orkan dann losbricht, messen wir trotz geschützter Lage über 40 kn. Eine Nachbaryacht hat die Abdeckung des Motu falsch eingeschätzt und wird von bis zu 63 kn Wind getroffen. Dennoch halten die Anker. Als der Wind nach 3 Tagen langsam nachlässt, regnet es weiter wie aus Kübeln. Eine kurze Regenpause nutzen wir, um uns etwas die Beine zu vertreten. Eine Woche ohne Solarertrag bringt unsere Batterien an ihre Grenzen und unseren neuen Generator zum wiederholten Einsatz. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen?
