Tahiti ist mit Abstand die größte Insel in Franz. Polynesien. Hier wohnen denn auch 2/3 der 300.000 Polynesier. Papeete, die Hauptstadt Franz. Polynesiens befindet sich im Norden von Tahiti Nui und bildet mit seinem Hafen, dem Kreuzfahrterminal sowie einem Internationalem Flughafen das Zentrum des Landes. Hier ist alles anders, von Ursprünglichkeit keine Spur. Die Rushhour morgens und abends brandet an unserer überfüllten Marina vorbei. In kurzen Abständen knallt ein zu hohes Fahrzeug scheppernd in die Höhenkontrolle des kleinen Tunnels. Zumindest wird hier nicht gehupt, dafür ist die Straße vor uns Tag und Nacht die Zufahrt für alle möglichen Rettungs- und Einsatzfahrzeuge. Papeete Marina ist der städtische Sportboothafen im Zentrum der gleichnamigen Landeshauptstadt. Sie ist nicht sehr komfortabel, aber alternativlos. Es gibt viel Schwell und Null Service. Reservierungen und Vorbuchungen sind nicht möglich. Einen Platz bekommen wir nur, da wir im Hafen Mitsegler kennen, die einen freiwerdenden Platz für uns mit einer Leine absperren und andere Platz suchenden Segler mit Schauergeschichten abwimmeln. Herzlichen Dank an dieser Stelle an Ralf und Gaby von der Katinka. Die Marina ist die mit Abstand teuerste während unserer nun 4-jährigen Reise. Andererseits erreichen wir fußläufig Restaurants, Geschäfte und Sehenswürdigkeiten – wir sind mitten drin. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Stepping into the starboard side of the saloon, you will find the mid-ship stateroom, equipped with two bunks stacked on each other, which make a very stable platform when sleeping at sea. This stateroom also houses a large access door to the engine room, as well as the washer and dryer. Thanks to a large refit completed by New England Boatworks in 2022, moving forward to the forward VIP stateroom, you will notice a big difference in the design from the original layout of the boat. First off, the two forward staterooms have been combined by removing the partition that runs the centerline of the boat. This has now created a spacious cabin that includes two queen-size berths with new custom mattresses. This then leads to a spacious VIP head with a glass-enclosed shower and a separate bathtub. With access to the forward crews' quarters through a door in the forward shower. In the crew's quarters, you will find two additional bunks, which are perfect for visitors and grandkids. Whether you're sailing across the Caribbean, enjoying a weekend at a marina, or living aboard, Serenity is designed to provide the utmost in comfort and performance.

Entry to the saloon via an easy-to-use electric washboard, reveals a vast, stunning interior with a well-appointed U-shaped galley to port, a spacious nav station and desk to starboard and a dinette area that comfortably seats 8-10 people. The dinette’s island bench seat doubles as a coffee table and hidden behind the portside lounge is a bar on an electric lift. There is also an additional drawer fridge and washer/dryer. The stylish cabinetry features secure chrome latches on the many lockers throughout. Her three-cabin layout includes a luxurious owner’s suite with island bed forward and two double cabins aft, one of which can convert to two singles. Each cabin has its own bathroom, including stand up shower, large sink and electric flush toilet. Both aft cabins have tall headroom and overhead lockers. In addition, a crew cabin with two bunks and complete bathroom is accessed via a large deck hatch, and makes an ideal hideaway for teenagers. The keel-stepped three-spreader Selden rig with inboard shrouds and twin backstays offers several sail configurations and is strongly supported with chainplates running into the hull grid. The in-mast furling allows the main to be reefed to any position for safer and easier sail handling. The cockpit with a large folding tabletop is huge and cleverly avoids clutter. A fibreglass archway supports the bimini and the large dodger with clears. At anchor, simply lower the electric swim platform for easy access into the dinghy and the water. Sail controls are kept away from the front of the large cockpit where six people can easily shelter under the large bimini, while the sailors can get on with the job of handling the sails at the twin pedestals, made easier with the help of four electric winches. All lines are neatly stowed in two cockpit rope bags. Si Spirit is ready to set sail anywhere in the world in perfect safety, comfort and style.
