Let's start in the heart of the boat – the galley. See how we prepare for a feast in this well-equipped space. We're particularly excited about our very water-efficient dishwasher. You'll also spot our Nespresso machine for that essential coffee, and Steven's prized wine fridge, crucial for keeping our South African wines and champagne in perfect condition. We even have a separate station for mixing cocktails, complete with all the decorations, martini shakers, and special liqueurs. The galley is truly full of modern equipment, including a four-burner stove, oven, air fryer, and convection oven. Storage is abundant, with overhead cabinets, space under the floorboards, and full-size fridges and freezers. Tonight, Jana, our chef, is preparing a special meal, starting with appetizers like blue cheese and pear with prosciutto, and homemade blini with caviar. The main course is braised short rib with pumpkin purée (and potato mash for Stephen!), followed by chocolate mousse for dessert. Setting the table is an art form here! We choose our linens carefully, aiming for a soft, ocean-like feel. Storage is a key feature of this boat, with immense space for wine, food, and spare parts. We even have different themes for our table settings, from pirates to elegant dinners. Upstairs on the flybridge, we have another bar, fridge, and cockpit chairs. During our boat test in Port Pin Rolland (South of France), we were able to see for ourselves what you get on the water with platform measuring 1,500 square feet (139.5 m²), a surface area almost 20% larger than is offered by the competition. The integral deck instead of a trampoline is able to offer both a forward cockpit and a real beach club area at the stern - connected to a hydraulic platform - but also optimal rigidity. To keep weight under control, the yard has used Catana technology, implementing carbon structural bulkheads. While the overall design remains in keeping with the Bali style, the coachroof is slightly larger, with narrower side decks. On board, you’ll find the opening forward door, the saloon-cockpit (a true Bali signature) and the famous tilting aft door. The galley, chart table/desk and cabins (of which there are anywhere from 3 to 6, depending on the version) are all designed in an XXL spirit that should satisfy the most demanding owners in terms of comfort. The saloon can accommodate no less than 12 guests. Wir besuchen den örtlichen Gendarmen aus Frankreich, um ordnungsgemäß einzuklarieren. Am örtlichen ATM füllen wir unsere Bargeldbestände auf. Der ATM in den Gambier-Inseln soll öfter mal nicht bestückt zu sein. Am Sonntag gehen wir erneut zum Gottesdienst. Uns begeistert vor allem der Gesang und die Zwanglosigkeit der Gemeinde. Wie in anderen Ländern bleiben jedoch viele Bänke leer. Nach einer Stunde verlassen wir allerdings den Gottesdienst – das dauert uns einfach zu lang. Stunden später kommen wir noch einmal an der Kirche vorbei. Es findet gerade ein Jugendgottesdienst statt. Das Engagement der Gemeinde sowie des örtlichen Pfarrers ist enorm. Unser Interesse gilt vor allem den Magasin - den Supermärkten. Die beste Auswahl hat JoJo`s und wir stocken unsere Bestände kräftig auf. Ab 10.000 XPF wird kostenlos ans Boot geliefert. Kein Problem für uns, denn die Preise sind so absurd, dass wir ungewollt in ganz anderen Größenordnungen unterwegs sind. Das Versorgungsschiff Nukuhau legt lang ersehnt in Otepa an. Emsig werden alle möglichen Versorgungsgüter entladen. Container, Baumaterialien, Treibstoff und, was uns besonders interessiert, Lebensmittel. Plötzlich sind die Gänge im JoJo`s vollgestopft mit gerade eingetroffenen Lebensmitteln. Frische Dinge, wie Früchte und Gemüse, gibt es allerdings weiterhin nicht. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Boatbuilder Ben Harris is seen here making the keel casting mold, intending to cast an iron keel in accordance with yacht designer John Alden's original MALABAR IV plans. We thought this would be interesting to see before moving on to the start of the framing process (video coming soon). Between then and now, there's been a lot of consideration as to whether this is the best option for the build.
