Sorry to disappoint you but the biggest trick about traveling long term is learning how to save and spending as less as possible in every major cost. I volunteer, I use couchsurfing, I hitchhike, I camp, I cook my food, but in the end of the equation you will always need a bit of money to pay visas, cover your entertainment and not starve on the road. Downpour on mooring during our first full day as sailboat owners. Happy with our canopy though... and the bottle of wine the previous owner left. This is definitely what you want to do during a humid rainstorm aboard:)
