Skier and Kinesiologist Robyn : Kindred Ramblers Skis Featuring Custom Vetruvian Man Artwork

Thanks to local skier Robyn Smalley, who gave us some time on a day off from the clinic to chat with us about her custom skis. Robyn comes from a ski family, and truly loves the sport. In her years as a student Robyn sacrificed many a powder day teaching kids on the bunny hill or at home studying anatomy and physiology. Being an instructor shows such a deep love of the sport, because while they do ski a lot, instructors also log many hours wiping snotty noses in front of the hot chocolate machine. Next time you hand your child over to an instructor on a pow day, make sure you show your appreciation! Robyn has been a registered Kinesiologist for nearly a decade, so now she can ski for herself! Appropriately, skiing combines movement, reflexes, balance and breathing fresh air in nature. It’s just the best! It is so good for our overall physical and mental health – and so many people are looking for safe ways to live a healthy active lifestyle right now. Of course sports like skiing can also lead to aches and pains, and even injuries. When they aren't skiing, Kinesiologists like Robyn assist folks in staying strong to maintain their physical movement potential, and in recovering from injuries (ski related or not!) After sailing 32,500 nautical miles around the world I want to give a shout out to my two loyal and exceptional crew members. They never talk back to me, require feeding or fall asleep on watch. In a perfect world they would make cups of tea and wash the dishes but I can't complain. The Aries windvane has kept Fathom on course in all sorts of conditions from 5knots of wind to 50knots of wind, flat seas to tumbling waves, upwind and downwind. I couldn't have got this far without it and have spent many hours watching it do its business without complaint using no electricity and only the power of the wind, a truly fantastic piece of engineering. Secondly the Aquair 100 tow gen. The generator is mounted on the pushpit and the forward motion of the boat spins a metal propeller at the end of 20m of rope. In winds over 15kts the drag created is unimportant and in tandem with the solar panel it keeps the batteries full and the fridge going 24/7. Cheers to both!
