Thanks to local skier Robyn Smalley, who gave us some time on a day off from the clinic to chat with us about her custom skis. Robyn comes from a ski family, and truly loves the sport. In her years as a student Robyn sacrificed many a powder day teaching kids on the bunny hill or at home studying anatomy and physiology. Being an instructor shows such a deep love of the sport, because while they do ski a lot, instructors also log many hours wiping snotty noses in front of the hot chocolate machine. Next time you hand your child over to an instructor on a pow day, make sure you show your appreciation! Robyn has been a registered Kinesiologist for nearly a decade, so now she can ski for herself! Appropriately, skiing combines movement, reflexes, balance and breathing fresh air in nature. It’s just the best! It is so good for our overall physical and mental health – and so many people are looking for safe ways to live a healthy active lifestyle right now. We stopped on over to Long Island from George Town, Bahamas for a few days. We anchored out in Thompson Bay, near Salt Pond. There's a dinghy dock that is privately owned north of the Government Dock. We've been told that the owners are very gracious to allow cruisers to use it...and we agree. It's super nice. Just outside of the fence, there are some garbage cans for garbage. I forget about the exact name of the street, but I learned it's named after the family that owns the property nearby, Basil. Take a right on Queens Highway and the Farmer's Market is on the right. Perhaps a quarter mile down the road. We bought Long Island Salt, Long Island Pepper Salt, Hot Sauce, Fresh Dill, Fresh Basil and Zucchini Bread. Diesmal segeln wir zu den heißen Quellen von Loutra auf der Insel Euböa. Das Kurbad war schon in der Antike beliebt. Das Wasser ist ganz schön heiß! Das lässt sich nur früh morgens genießen, denn am Tage haben wir im Moment 41 Grad im Schatten - schwitz! Und weiter geht´s Richtung nördliche Sporaden. Nördlich von Euböa müssen wir gegen den Wind kreuzen. Ja, auch unser Kat kann kreuzen! Eine große Delfinschule begleitet uns und schwimmen jede Wende mit!!! Das haben wir zum ersten Mal erlebt - irre! This time we sail to the hot springs of Loutra on the island of Euboea. The spa was already popular in ancient times. The water is really hot! You can only enjoy it early in the morning, as it's currently 41 degrees in the shade during the day - sweaty! And on we go towards the northern Sporades. North of Euboea we have to cross against the wind. Yes, even our cat can cross! A large school of dolphins accompanied us and swam every turn!!! We experienced this for the first time - crazy!
