In this video we’re sailing upwind in 35+ knots of breeze in Johnstone Strait during the VanIsle360 race with a double-reefed main sail and storm jib. A crew member is on the foredeck securing the #3 jib we had previously been flying in the short video https://youtube.com/shorts/VRAEp8M49Y4, but ripped in half. The head literally ripped right off. He is wearing a harness and tether! The sky is completely blue, but everybody is still completely soaked from the spray. Lots of sails were destroyed in that leg, including the #3 jib that is now on the foredeck. Welcome to Hydra, a jewel of the Aegean Sea and a must-visit destination for every sailor exploring Greece. This island is known for its unique charm and authenticity, with a car ban. It is a perfect destination for sailors looking for a peaceful escape. But do arrive early. Sailors can find lovely anchorages around in calm weather. The most famous is located approximately a mile east to the port with clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. There aren't facilities and services for boaters in Hydra's port, but still, it is an unforgettable destination for every sailor looking for beauty, history and tranquillity in the heart of the Aegean Sea. I can relate to Leonard Cohen and other famous artists who settled on this magical island. #sailing #shorts #greece learn & see more: https://seatv.world/location/saronic-gulf-eastern-peloponnese-greece-best-anchorages/docking/anchorages-hydra-greece 🎥 Subscribe for weekly Videos! ▸ https://www.youtube.com/c/SeaTVSailingNetworkChannel Fancy Zoom background Pictures? ▶️ https://seatv.world/event/zoom-background-sailing-pictures/ These videos will make your Sailing Vacation much easier⛵️ ▸ Choose your Sailing area: https://seatv.world 👀 If you can’t find it, Sorry we’re working on it… 🎬 ▸ Got Tips/ Videos? We love blue tape. It is helpful for labeling and reminding you of important items to track and monitor. In this Offshore Cruising tip called “Analog Gauges”, Jeff recommends using blue tape to help you mark your gauges for quick verification that all is well. Analog gauges have needle indicators that move to and remain in a safe operating “normal” position once they are warmed up and running. By marking the “normal” needle location with blue tape, you can quickly check that your gauges are where they should be. If you start running hot, losing voltage or oil pressure you have a simple pre-alarm warning. This same tip can be used for main engine analog gauges. Simply cut blue tape into small triangles and mark the normal needle locations for voltage, oil pressure, and coolant. This practice can be used for all of your analog gauges including proper pressure points for steering, fresh water, etc. A swift glance lets you verify your status.
