Episode 12 out now! 🌊 🎥 Sailing Sardinia to Tunisia to close out our very first season. https://youtu.be/CQzsAhNT9K4?si=BQbaY0-C5STt0-ne After two weeks of solo sailing down Sardinia’s rugged west coast, Sam reunites with Vika in Cagliari for one last taste of Italy before we check Kaia — our Lagoon 440 catamaran — out of Europe and make our way to Tunisia, Africa! With our three sailing dogs back onboard, we set off on our longest passage yet: 40 hours across the Mediterranean, two nights at sea, fiery sunsets, star-filled skies, and the steady rhythm of open water carrying us towards a brand new continent. Halfway along the Tunisian coast, we tried to drop anchor for a short rest — only to be told by the coastguard that anchoring wasn’t allowed. Tired but determined, we pushed on through a second night passage before finally reaching Monastir Marina. At last, Kaia is safely tied up in her new winter berth in Tunisia, where we begin life as full-time liveaboards in North Africa. Season One of Sailing Sacred Seas may be over, but this is only the beginning — the adventure continues from our new home in Tunisia! Ever wondered what it really takes to keep a sailboat running and ready for adventure? In this video, I break down our regular liveaboard expenses - from memberships, fuel, and insurance to marina life - plus the big-ticket upgrades and repairs that have kept us cruising, like a new alternator, starter motor, anchor chain, and even sails. I’ll share how these costs add up over time, what surprised us the most, and a few lessons we’ve learned along the way. Whether you’re planning to live aboard or just curious about the behind-the-scenes of sailing life, this one’s for you. Is this more or less than you expected? Tell me below 👇

Sailing for beginners is a minefield of mistakes. You're watching the wrong videos. Most sailing advice skips the painful, embarrassing realities of Day One. I’ve sailed for years, and these 5 crucial things would have saved me thousands of dollars and years of struggle. Docking is terrifying. Gear fails. And the wind never listens. If you’re learning to sail, use my Clarkson-style crash course to skip the worst part. This is the real beginner sailing crash course, designed to make sailing more easily accessible.

The sound of wind in the sails. The adrenaline rush before the race. And then, in an instant, silence, the sea, and cool water. Life on a yacht is the perfect harmony of speed and tranquility. The moment when the ocean sings in unison with you. @southernwindofficial #SouthernWind #YachtLife #LifeAtSea #spinnakermagazine #spinnakerbureau
