At Sirius, we build our yachts to last you many decades. With longevity comes maintenance and repairs. Our yachts are built with ease of ownership in mind, and this is why, if you need to remove a hidden deck fitting we’ve attached, there will be GRP packing around the nuts below the deck. Not only does this prevent any ingress of water around the fitting, it means that any bolt or machine screw can be removed and replaced on your own, and without having to remove any of the interior. Anyone who has unscrewed a bolt, and heard the tell-tale clatter of a nut falling off, will know the sinking realisation that a quick job has now become a long job. The headlining and possibly parts of the interior will need to be removed to access the bolt. We never want that to happen to you. There may be times when deck fittings need to be repaired or replaced. Oggi ci avventuriamo alla scoperta della città. È abbastanza in stile caraibico (quello visto da noi), i palazzi hanno tutti colori sgargianti, talvolta sono abbandonati, altre volte molto curati. Ci sono pochi negozi, poco vistosi. A un benzinaio un gruppo di anziani signori siede all’ombra di un albero e guarda storto chi fa benzina o cammina nei paraggi. Uno barcolla, una signora mi sorride. Poi ci ricordiamo un grande insegnamento di questo viaggio: la parte più bella, più turistica, si trova sempre nei pressi del molo delle crociere. Come da programma, raggiungiamo il luogo ed entriamo in una città delle bambole fantasma. I palazzi, costruiti a schiera, formano un anello dove è possibile passeggiare e fare acquisti. Sono bassi e colorati, il prato è perfettamente tagliato. Senz’altro è un luogo accogliente (se escludiamo che essere gli unici che camminavano ci ha fatti sentire in un esperimento sociale) e abbiamo goduto di uno squisito pranzo. Pro e contro. Ieri abbiamo fatto un acquisto in un locale del posto e abbiamo vissuto una pessima esperienza (culinaria). Pro e contro. Il prato dall’aspetto quasi finto da un lato e un totale abbandono nella cura delle piante, nel resto della città. Fa riflettere. Tu che ne pensi?
