Introducing the LMF 22 which was launched at the beginning of the summer for buoy and waterway maintenance operations in the lakes of Maine. Despite it's relatively small size, the boat routinely carries a cargo of 2500lbs consisting of buoys, anchors, and chain. The buoys and gear are worked via a davit at the side hull cutout. A bow thruster was also installed to help keep the boat on station. Powered by twin Yamaha SHO 115's, this boat sees a 40 knot top end speed. -Designed by Response Marine -Video by Camden Spear. #boatbuilding #maine #boat

S/V Ruatahi started life as a 1999 Manta 40 and is now a Manta 46 catamaran for sale by owner. I worked with a famous Naval Architect (Gunboat fame amongst other things) to see if we couldn’t improve the motion and load carrying capabilities also to bump the performance up a little. The sterns have been extended, and she’s about 46’ LOA now. The rudders have been extended also to give better control. Ruatahi has many other customizations and upgrades including an extended mast, "kiwi prop" saildrives, and a Hurricane diesel hot water and heating system. The full review of the M.9, the prototype of the M.10, is out! You can order it here: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/motor/m9-m10-s-prototype-a-100-electric-powercat or read it for free if you are a Multihulls World subscriber. The M9 electric powercat - built in St Malo, Brittany, then assembled and completed in Caen, on France’s Channel coast - made its public debut in the Mediterranean. But what’s so special about this new model? Its two-sided solar-powered wings, that unfold when under way: the photovoltaic cells facing the sea thus capture the sun’s reflection from the surface of the water. In total, the solar installation is capable of producing 6 kWp, a considerable figure for a catamaran just over 30 feet in length. At 6 knots, range is unlimited - during the day, weather permitting. The second remarkable technological innovation is the car-like control interface. The on-board computer controls all the settings and manages the virtual anchor system: the motors are connected to the GPS position to “hold” the boat without the need to drop an anchor. A third point worthy of note: when folded, the solar wings, together with removable glass panels and canvas sections, transform the central part of the powercat into an enclosed space measuring 130 square feet (12 m²), called the deck cabin. The table in the saloon can be lowered, and cushions added, to create a double 4’7” (1.4 m) berth. The interior is cozy and include a galley. In the hulls, there are two cabins and a heads compartment. The foredeck is fitted with a trampoline, which is lighter than a rigid deck. At the stern, the yard has designed two bathing platforms. A quick video of our recent launch after 9 months out of the water. Some seacocks serviced, some replaced, but all checked. So many people seem to take for granted that boats are just water tight, they’re not. Take care, and check all Seacocks when you are lifted. Give yourself good time to replace if needed, alongside a drying pile can be a rush and sometimes not enough time. And make sure all cocks are checked whikst you are held (preferably in slings at the yard).
