At Rustler Yachts, we pride ourselves in our attention to detail. One area where you can see this is our shutlines; the clearance gap where doors or draws meet. These have to be perfect. A millimetre might not sound like a lot, but you’ll notice it on a wonky shutline. Not only do the shutlines have to be accounted for and made perfectly, but their spacing has to work across the grain of the wood. Some builders don’t match the grain, or they may have one line of draws deep draws that are harder to get what you need from them. In this video I show how to tie the rolling hitch, which is also called stopper hitch. We use the rolling hitch for example if we want to attach a line to another line that is tensed. For example when several boats are supposed to be towed with one single line. It is possible to shift the knot on the line in one direction and to the other direction it stops.
