► The long-awaited big brother of the proven Knysna 500SE is finally afloat! At the Annapolis Sailboat Show, our CEO Gwen Dorning had the opportunity to discover this South African-built bluewater cruising catamaran at its world premiere. Better still, she was lucky enough to get aboard for a sail on Chesapeake Bay! ► The yacht we tested (hull #2) had only just completed her Atlantic crossing from South Africa with her Owners. After 20 years sailing a 45-foot monohull, they decided to make the switch to a multihull, prioritizing comfort, safety and ease of handling for extended cruising. And who could blame them? "Our sea trial began in a light breeze, with just 6 knots of apparent wind," Gwen explains. "Yet even in these conditions, the Knysna 550 managed to maintain a speed of 4 to 5 knots - a pleasant first surprise! When the wind picked up to 16-18 knots, the catamaran really accelerated, and our GPS showed 10 to 10.3 knots under mainsail and genoa. Impressive performance for a yacht displacing around 22 t in her configuration on the day.” ► Beyond the numbers, it was the Knysna 550's sailing characteristics that really impressed Gwen. She appreciated the pleasant helm feel, excellent balance and smooth motion through the water. Despite her generous sail area, maneuvers proved straightforward - a welcome advantage for a yacht designed for bluewater cruising. ► "Inside, I discovered warm, inviting accommodations, beautiful wood finishes and plenty of equipment designed for extended life aboard. But my sea trial also confirmed that this emphasis on comfort hasn't come at the expense of sailing enjoyment!" ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Knysna Yachts (South Africa) Designers: VDS Marine Design Length: 55'3" (16.83 m) Beam: 29'9" (9.06 m) Draft: 4'11" (1.5 m) Light Displacement: 19.6 t Mainsail: 1,440 sq ft (133.8 m²) Genoa: 674 sq ft (62.64 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 80 hp Water: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Fuel: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Cabins: 3/4 ► www.knysnayachtco.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! ► Among the 41 multihulls on display at the 11th edition of the Pre-Owned Multihull and Refit Show in Canet-en-Roussillon, we discovered a bluewater cruising catamaran offered for sale by Catherine Relandeau of CathYacht. Let's take a guided tour! ► Meet Blue Zone, a 2011 Lagoon 620, hull #22, which has the distinction of having always been privately owned and operated. Her current Owners, a couple from Luxembourg, have enjoyed the yacht for the past seven years, mainly in the Mediterranean, with a professional crew employed year-round. But what really sets this catamaran apart is the attention paid to optimizing her equipment. The Owner, who has a particular interest in technical matters, has invested in numerous upgrades with three priorities in mind: safety, self-sufficiency and weight management. ► In terms of safety, Blue Zone features a particularly sophisticated lightning protection system, with devices connected to dedicated grounding plates. Her standing rigging is rod-type, while both the mast and boom are made of carbon fiber. ► For energy autonomy, the catamaran is equipped with a 33 kWh Mastervolt lithium battery bank and 3.7 kWp of solar panels mounted on a custom-built hardtop. Their particularly open installation promotes airflow and therefore improves efficiency. Two watermakers, each producing 29 US gal/h (110 l/h), complete the equipment designed for extended periods at anchor. ► Another interesting feature: rather than a conventional tender lift, the Owner opted for a 161 sq ft (15 m²) floating swim platform adapted to the davits. This lighter and particularly versatile solution makes accessing the water and enjoying watersports easier. ► Inside, Blue Zone features a five-cabin layout with the galley down. The spacious, light-filled saloon offers two lounge areas, a dining space and a navigation station. The overall arrangement prioritizes comfort on extended cruises without compromising living space. ► Finally, this Lagoon 620 is powered by twin 110 hp Volvo Penta D3 engines. According to her sales specifications, the optimization work has reportedly reduced her weight by approximately 1.5 t compared to a standard yacht, with claimed fuel consumption of less than 0.26 US gal per nautical mile (1 l/nm) at 6 knots. This large cruising catamaran is certainly worth a closer look, especially considering her numerous upgrades and the fact that she has never been used for charter. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Lagoon (CNB) Year: 2011 - Hull #22 Length Overall: 62' (18.9 m) Beam: 32'10" (10 m) Draft: 5'1" (1.55 m) Air Draft: 101'8" (31 m) Light Displacement: 29 t Powertrain: 2 × 110 hp Volvo Penta D3 Fuel: 343 US gal (1,300 l) Water: 254 US gal (960 l) Layout: 5 cabins, galley down Rig: Carbon fiber mast and boom, rod standing rigging Batteries: 33 kWh Mastervolt lithium Solar Panels: 3.7 kWp Watermakers: 2 × Echotec, 29 US gal/h (110 l/h) each Generator: 17.5 kVA Onan Air Conditioning: Webasto Blue Cool VX Swim Platform: Floating, 161 sq ft (15 m²) Asking Price: € 1,290,000 (VAT paid) Contact: CathYacht - +33 (0)6 89 27 92 06 ► Contact : CathYacht – +33 (0)6 89 27 92 06 www.cathyacht.com ► Paid partnership with CathYacht ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Presented at the 11th edition of Les Occasions du Multicoque et du Refit in Canet-en-Roussillon, Macuba is a 1998 Nautitech 395 that's well worth a closer look. This almost 40-foot (12 m) catamaran belongs to the first generation of models from the French builder, retaining its essential characteristics: relatively slender hulls, moderate displacement and a bluewater cruising program. ► Designed by Mortain & Mavrikios and launched in 1996, approximately 80 Nautitech 395s are believed to have been built before the model was replaced by the Nautitech 40 in 2003. Its deck layout, with two helm stations positioned far aft and a cockpit protected by a rigid extension of the coachroof, already anticipated some of the features found on modern Nautitech catamarans. ► Refitted for an Atlantic Crossing What makes Macuba special? She had been prepared for an Atlantic circuit. Her Owner therefore undertook an extensive upgrade program between 2022 and 2026, with the aim of creating a self-sufficient catamaran ready to head offshore. ► The genoa dates from 2022, while the mainsail is brand-new for 2026. The standing rigging was replaced in 2022, and much of the running rigging has been renewed or serviced. The two 30 hp Yanmar engines, installed in 2012 and each showing approximately 1,600 hours, have also undergone a thorough overhaul. The saildrive seals were replaced, and the engines were removed to allow work including repainting the engine compartments. A particularly welcome improvement on a catamaran of this age. ► Greater Self-Sufficiency Preparations for extended cruising went well beyond the propulsion systems. Macuba is equipped with 700 Wp of solar panels connected to a lithium battery. An additional refrigerator has also been installed to increase fresh food storage capacity, while the navigation electronics have been upgraded. ► Inside, we find a four-double-cabin layout, well suited to family cruising or sailing with friends. The saloon retains the relatively compact proportions typical of catamarans of this generation, but the Nautitech 395 benefits in return from an originally quoted light displacement of just 6.6 metric tons. ► With her slender hulls and upgraded equipment, Macuba represents an interesting option for sailors who value seaworthiness and self-sufficiency over the interior volume offered by more recent catamarans. ► This Nautitech 395 is offered for sale at € 150,000 including VAT by Hellomulti, which is exhibiting her at the Canet-en-Roussillon show. ► Contact: Hellomulti – www.hellomulti.com ► Technical Specifications Builder: Dufour Catamarans / Nautitech Naval Architects: Mortain & Mavrikios Year: 1998 Length Overall: 39'4" (11.98 m) Waterline Length: 37'0" (11.28 m) – to be confirmed Beam: 21'0" (6.40 m) Draft: 3'11" (1.20 m) Light Displacement: 6.60 metric tons Mast Height: 49'3" (15 m) Mainsail: 484 sq ft (45 m²), 3 reefs, new in 2026 Genoa: 2022 Spinnaker: Symmetrical, with snuffer Engines: 2 × Yanmar 30 hp (2012) Engine Hours: Approximately 1,600 hours each Standing Rigging: Replaced in 2022 Solar Panels: 700 Wp Fuel: 52.8 US gal (200 l) Fresh Water: 105.7 US gal (400 l) Accommodation: 4 cabins / 2 heads Asking Price: €150,000 incl. ► The world's largest in-water sailboat show opened its doors on Thursday, October 15, on the shores of Chesapeake Bay in the United States. With more than 150 sailboats on display and some 500 exhibitors, the Annapolis Sailboat Show confirms its status as one of America's major boating events. Our team is on site to discover the latest multihulls at this 2026 edition! ► Arriving for the second day of the show, we immediately rediscovered everything that makes Annapolis so special: packed docks, enthusiastic visitors and an exceptionally friendly atmosphere. Gray skies and somewhat unpredictable weather? After some 15 years of walking these docks, we know perfectly well that a few clouds have never discouraged American sailing enthusiasts! Some visitors are looking for their next multihull, others are preparing for a winter cruise in the Caribbean, while others have simply come to discover the latest models. All are taking advantage of the opportunity to step aboard the boats on display and meet the builders. ► Multihulls Out in Force! Our first observation: multihulls are particularly numerous and varied this year. Alongside the large cruising catamarans, smaller models are also well represented, notably with trimarans from Corsair and Dragonfly. There's something to suit a wide range of sailing plans, from sporty day sailing to long-distance cruising. A few changes to the show's layout are worth noting due to redevelopment work in Annapolis Harbor. Nevertheless, multihulls still have their dedicated in-water display area, while several catamarans are also exhibited in the charter section near the show entrance. ► Exciting New Models to Discover on Video We've got a busy schedule ahead! We're planning several guided video tours, notably aboard the Voyage 510, Heysea 60, Knysna 550 and the new Xquisite 54E Plus. Four models with very different personalities that we'll be presenting in detail over the coming days, before heading out on the water for a series of sea trials scheduled for early next week. Annapolis also means hundreds of exhibitors, seminars, entertainment and, above all, plenty of opportunities to meet the people who make up the American boating industry. It's an event we've been attending faithfully for some 15 years, and one whose atmosphere we still enjoy just as much as ever. ► Stay tuned: our first guided video tours are coming very soon! ► October 15–18, 2026, City Dock, Annapolis, Maryland, USA ► www.annapolisboatshows.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► The career of the Lagoon 46’s successor seems to be getting off to the best possible start, with 40 units sold even before the official presentation of this new model… ► For the 47, presented as a world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the designers have focused on the cockpit and forward door. Until now, the forward opening had been reserved for Lagoon Signature models (60 feet and above); the 47 suggests a new generation that will introduce this configuration on future models. While the forward door sparked considerable debate in 2010 with the launch of the Leopard 44, over the years it has become a standard feature - and today, an undeniable asset. With the 47, Lagoon goes even further, offering a complete 129 sq ft (12 m²) cockpit forward, reducing the traditional trampolines to the bare minimum. ► This new model therefore offers two XXL protected/shaded areas - the aft cockpit and the aft section of the flybridge - as well as a sunny area with this new XXL solid foredeck. Another new feature is that the port aft cabin can be accessed directly from the cockpit. The 47 is also available with optional twin 25 kW electric pods. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Lagoon Architects: VPLP Design Interior Design: Nauta Design Length Overall: 49'1" (14.95 m) Hull Length: 45'10" (13.96 m) Beam: 26'1" (7.96 m) Draft: 4'1" (1.25 m) Air Draft: 76'1" (23.2 m) Light Displacement: 18 t Upwind Sail Area: 1,378 sq ft (128 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 57 hp Yanmar or 2 × 25 kW electric Fuel: 227 US gal (860 l) Water: 185 US gal (700 l) Berths: 6 to 13 Versions: 3 to 5 cabins CE Category: A12/B14/C20/D30 Price: € 680,000 ex-tax for the standard three-cabin version ► www.catamarans-lagoon.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ►Arriving in Cannes for its world premiere, the BC60 is the smallest model in Bering Yachts’ Expedition range, but certainly not the least ambitious. ►Built entirely in aluminum in Antalya, Turkey, this powercat adopts the same principles as the builder’s larger expedition yachts: autonomy, considerable storage capacity, crew protection and the ability to spend long periods away from marinas. Hull #1, which we discovered in Cannes, takes this approach even further, with a fully enclosed flybridge - an open version is standard - and instrumentation worthy of a genuine ship. ►Aft, the large movable platform is one of the powercat’s clever features. At main-deck level, it significantly extends the cockpit; lowered to the level of the aft platforms, it creates a vast swim platform and provides easier access to the toy garage. The latter can accommodate paddleboards and other watersports equipment and even has its own technical facilities. On the flybridge, the tender is handled by a crane capable of launching it either aft or to port. ►Inside, it is above all the feeling of space that stands out. A large, extensively equipped galley, vast windows, an immense saloon and a forward cockpit provide numerous living areas. But the BC60 does not forget its expedition program: a vast technical and storage area between the hulls extends over much of the boat, while the engine rooms are heavily insulated to limit noise and vibration in the cabins. Storage is omnipresent, both in the communal areas and in the cabins and laundry room - a real advantage when considering several weeks away from any assistance. ►This first unit features an Owner’s suite, two guest cabins, a crew cabin and a laundry room, but Bering offers layouts with four to six cabins. The main suite occupies a large part of the port hull, with a king-size bed, large walk-in closet and a particularly generous bathroom whose shower can even double as a hammam. As for the enclosed flybridge on hull #1, it is almost an additional apartment in itself: a bar, refrigerator, bathroom, convertible bench seat and immense helm station all benefit from an almost panoramic view. ►Technical Specifications: Builder: Bering Yachts Construction: Aluminum Length: 62' (18.9 m) Beam: 25'7" (7.8 m) Powertrain: 2 × 425 hp Cruising Speed: 8 knots Max Speed: 12 knots Range: Up to 3,500 nm at 8 knots Cabins: 4 to 6 ►www.beringyachts.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► From October 1 to 6, the 66th Genoa International Boat Show is bringing together more than 1,000 boats, including 215 new models, and exhibitors from 45 countries. Organized by Confindustria Nautica, the Italian show is this year occupying the entire Waterfront di Levante, extensively redesigned according to a project by architect Renzo Piano. ► Among the figures announced for the 2026 edition, one particularly caught our attention: the number of multihulls on display is up 28% compared to last year. In addition to the numerous powercats in the areas dedicated to powerboating - Bluegame, Jeanneau, Omaya, Pioneer, Prestige and Yot - most of the major sailing multihull builders are also present, including Bali, Catana, Excess, Fountaine Pajot, Heysea, Lagoon and Seawind. And brands producing both sailing and power models, such as Aquila and Leopard, have also made the trip! ► This increase confirms the growing presence of our favorite boats at major international shows. At the same time, the in-water exhibition area is increasing by 4%, while the average size of the three largest boats in each category is up 14.1%. ► Genoa is also strengthening its focus on larger yachts with the new Living Made in Italy area, located on quay H and reserved for yachts over 79 feet (24 m), with models ranging from 115 to 164 feet (35 to 50 m). The show aims to highlight Italian expertise, as well as the links between yacht building, architecture, interior decoration and design. ► Innovation and equipment also have their place. The TechTrade Days, taking place on October 1 and 2, bring together more than 400 equipment, accessory and component brands. Meanwhile, the FORUM26 program addresses artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, new technologies and decarbonization. Finally, the Design Innovation Award recognizes, for the seventh time, the most significant new developments in terms of design, functionality and sustainability. ► October 1 to 6, 2026 - Genoa, Italy ► www.salonenautico.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Presented as a world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival… but only at anchor, the Windelo 55 Sport took a little effort to discover! Hull #1 marks a distinctly sportier evolution of the Windelo 54, with considerable work devoted to the appendages, rig and weight. ► The more reverse-raked bows extend the waterline, the daggerboards are 25.6" (65 cm) longer, and new carbon rudders complete the package. ► The rig follows the same philosophy: a carbon mast raised by 3'3" (1 m), Kevlar standing rigging, an extended carbon forward crossbeam and a more generous sail plan. Windelo therefore claims a performance gain of at least 10% compared with the 54. Inside, the drive to reduce weight is reflected in the use of technical materials and a sportier atmosphere, without abandoning the builder’s fundamentals: bio-sourced and recyclable materials and electric propulsion as standard. ► But this first 55 Sport won’t spend long playing the star of the Croisette. Entered in the ARC, it will soon set off from Las Palmas bound for Saint Lucia. This full-scale transatlantic crossing will provide a particularly interesting opportunity to assess the choices made for this new version. Multihulls World will also be along for the ride: we’ll share the atmosphere of this upcoming crossing with you and closely follow the newcomer’s performance. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Windelo Length Overall: 54'3" (16.54 m) Beam: 26'2" (7.98 m) Draft: 3'5"/9'2" (1.03/2.8 m) Displacement: 12.3 t Sail Area: 1,636 sq ft (152 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 20 kW electric or Dual Propulsion Price: € 1,880,000 ex-tax ► www.windelo-catamaran.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► After Cannes, it’s time to head for the Atlantic - and under bright sunshine! The Grand Pavois opened its doors on September 22 at the Port des Minimes and, once again, multihulls occupy a prime position on the La Rochelle pontoons. Their presence is now far from anecdotal: as early as 2025, the organizers completely redesigned the marina to accommodate around forty multihulls and devote more space to them. ► For the 2026 edition, the lineup above all provides a broad overview of the market. On the sailing side, the major French builders are naturally on home territory, including Bali, Neel and Fountaine Pajot, which is notably presenting its FP41, FP44 and the brand-new FP48, fresh from its world premiere in Cannes. Lagoon is displaying its 38 and 43, while Excess is presenting its complete range. Aventura is also present with its iconic sailing 37. ► But one of the attractions of the Grand Pavois is also the opportunity to move down in size and discover multihulls that are sometimes less visible at the major Mediterranean shows. Tricat has brought three trimarans, the 6.90, 8.50 and 30 (Antoine Houdet’s boat). A year after its world premiere, the Astus 26.5 is still part of the show, while the pontoons also host more unusual offerings such as the Outre-Loire 25 foiler. As for the WildKat 6.10, the small trailerable catamaran we feature elsewhere, it perfectly illustrates this diversity. On the power side, established models include Jeanneau’s TH33, alongside newcomers such as the Fargo 31. ► Also worth noting: two historic “Golden Oldies” trimarans are also moored at the pontoons. ► Electric and hybrid solutions are gaining ground: Sea Loop is notably using the show to present the latest developments for its forthcoming Loopia 290, now available with hybrid propulsion combining twin 115 hp Mercury outboards with two 11 kW BlueNav electric motors. ► www.grand-pavois.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Presented as a world premiere in Cannes, the Aquila 35 Sport didn’t keep us waiting long before handing over the controls. A few days after the show, we caught up with it in Saint-Raphaël. ► Our test boat was equipped with twin 300 hp Mercury Verado V8s, with which we recorded a top speed of 36.4 knots. Already more than enough for plenty of fun, especially considering that twin 400 hp V10s are available as an option. ► At the helm, the four seats with flip-up bolsters and a proper footrest provide a very convincing driving position, while the robust handrails found throughout the boat are a reminder that this 35 is designed to go fast. The same goes for the small padded bolster running along the bulwarks: a particularly welcome detail as soon as the sea starts to build. ► But it is still aft that the Aquila 35 Sport reveals one of its cleverest features: the large bench seat can slide to port or starboard to provide easier access on either side. Two tables, a generous galley unit and the large forward bench seat complete a particularly sociable deck layout for a powercat measuring just 35'6" (10.82 m). ► And it still has another surprise below deck. Access to the cabin is on the starboard side; the steps normally providing access to the side deck retract into the console to clear the passage. With 6'4" (1.92 m) of headroom, a large bed and a particularly high-quality finish, right down to the small wood paneling lining the back of the cabin, the 35 makes it easy to extend your outing over several days. ► With the 35 and 45 Sport now in the water, Aquila has no intention of stopping there: a third model of around 40 feet is already in development. We will therefore soon have a genuine Sport range to discover. ► Full test of the Aquila 35 Sport in our next Power Special Issue! ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Aquila Catamarans Construction: Sino Eagle Yachts Length: 35'6" (10.82 m) Beam: 14'9" (4.5 m) Powertrain: 2 × 300 hp Mercury Verado V8 / optional 2 × 400 hp Mercury Verado V10 Recorded Max Speed: 36.4 knots with 2 × 300 hp Cabins: 1 Berths: 2 Price: From US$ 435,000 ex-tax, ex-works ► www.aquilaboats.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Barely had the Cannes Yachting Festival ended when we caught up with the Aquila 45 Sport in Saint-Raphaël for a first run. ► With just 2 to 6 knots of wind and a slight underlying swell, conditions were ideal for pushing this new powercat without getting shaken around too much… although its ability to handle the sea (and wakes) quickly impressed us. With sharper, more angular lines than other Aquila models, the 45 Sport does more than just look the part: it provides a remarkable feeling of safety, even at high speed. ► With twin 600 hp Mercury engines on the transom, we recorded a top speed of 45.6 knots. On board, the layout remains very much focused on conviviality, with a table surrounded by a U-shaped bench seat and two fold-down bulwarks that generously widen the cockpit at anchor. ► The practical details are particularly well thought out: handrails and lockers are everywhere, while the padded inner faces of the bulwarks prove very comfortable when the powercat starts moving around. Even the optional black headliner makes perfect sense here by reducing reflections. Finally, the cabin and its bathroom make it possible to spend a few nights aboard in good conditions. ► Our full test will be published soon in Multihulls World! ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Aquila Catamarans Construction: Vinylester infusion Designer: Yacht Design Works Length: 46'6" (14.17 m) Beam: 15'/19'3” (4.57/5.88 m) with terraces open Draft: 2' (0.6 m) with engines raised Air Draft: 9'11" (3.02 m) Light Displacement: 9.96 t Powertrain: 2 × 600 hp Mercury Verado V12 Max Speed: More than 43 knots claimed Fuel: 400 US gal (1,514 l) Water: 50 US gal (189 l) Cabins: 1 Berths: 2 CE Category: B10/C20/D29 Price: From US$ 781,500 ex-tax, ex-works ► www.aquilaboats.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► This new catamaran, which we were able to discover in Saint-Raphaël a week before its official presentation, marks a clear shift in terms of architectural choices. ► First comes the flybridge with helm station: until now, this configuration started with the Samana 59, while the smaller FP models made do with a twin helm/maneuvering station offset to starboard. Then there are the solid foredeck and forward door. No more trampolines! The FP55 thus aims to satisfy both the charter and Owner markets, with the emphasis placed more on comfort than performance. Inside, the builder offers numerous layout options - we were able to discover the Maestro version with five cabins. Finally, it is worth noting the substantial power of the optional ODSea+ propulsion system, equivalent to the 80 hp engines fitted to hull #1, which we tested. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Fountaine Pajot Length: 55'8" (16.98 m) Beam: 28'10" (8.8 m) Draft: 6'1" (1.85 m) Light Displacement: 32.1 t Sail Area: 1,894 sq ft (176 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 80 hp or 2 × 50 kW Fuel: 2 × 161 US gal (610 l) Price: € 1,395,000 ex-tax ► www.fountaine-pajot.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Eight knots of wind at most is a little light for a proper test… and yet, just after its presentation at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Windelo 55 Sport has already shown us that it has some serious arguments to make in the highly competitive fast bluewater cruising catamaran category. ► Far more than a Windelo 54 with a few performance options added, the 55 Sport has undergone a genuine optimization program. Lighter and carrying more sail, it adopts more pronounced reverse bows to extend the waterline, daggerboards lengthened by 2'2" (65 cm) and new carbon rudders. The rig has also evolved, with a carbon mast raised by 3'3" (1 m), Kevlar standing rigging and a lengthened carbon forward crossbeam. The structure and accommodation have also been subjected to a weight-saving program, with the builder claiming a performance gain of at least 10% compared with the 54. ► For the rest, we are very much aboard a Windelo, with the brand’s signature forward cockpit incorporating the helm station and all sail-handling lines led back to it. This arrangement completely redistributes the spaces and frees up a vast single-level area: you can helm under cover while remaining in contact with the rest of the crew, whether they are in the galley or relaxing on the trampolines. It is a configuration that struck us as particularly coherent for bluewater cruising and should prove especially welcome during long night watches. ► And we won’t be stopping at this first experience in light airs: Ludovic Roussille will spend two weeks aboard the Windelo 55 Sport during the next edition of the ARC, as media man for Multihulls World. A full-scale transatlantic crossing will provide the opportunity to assess the handling and performance, as well as life aboard this new model. See you on the starting line in mid-November! ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Windelo Length: 54'3" (16.54 m) Beam: 26'2" (7.98 m) Draft: 3'5"/9'2" (1.03/2.8 m) Displacement: 12.3 t Sail Area: 1,636 sq ft (152 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 20 kW or Dual Propulsion Price: € 1,880,000 ex-tax ► www.windelo-catamaran.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► The career of the Lagoon 46’s successor seems to be getting off to the best possible start, with 40 units sold even before the official presentation of this new model… ► The career of the Lagoon 46’s successor seems to be getting off to the best possible start, with 40 units sold even before the official presentation of this new model… For the 47, presented as a world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the designers have focused on the cockpit and forward door. ► Technical Specifications : Builder: Lagoon Architects: VPLP Design Interior Design: Nauta Design Length Overall: 49'1" (14.95 m) Hull Length: 45'10" (13.96 m) Beam: 26'1" (7.96 m) Draft: 4'1" (1.25 m) Air Draft: 76'1" (23.2 m) Light Displacement: 18 t Upwind Sail Area: 1,378 sq ft (128 m²) Powertrain: 2 × 57 hp Yanmar or 2 × 25 kW electric Fuel: 227 US gal (860 l) Water: 185 US gal (700 l) Berths: 6 to 13 Versions: 3 to 5 cabins CE Category: A12/B14/C20/D30 Price: € 680,000 ex-tax for the standard three-cabin version ► www.catamarans-lagoon.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Waking up to an uninterrupted sea view is already a privilege, but being able to dive straight into the water from the private terrace of your own cabin is unique! That is exactly what the Lagoon Eighty 3 offers, adopting the opening bulwark concept first introduced on the Lagoon Seventy 7. ► We were able to try it for ourselves between the islands of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, in water that was still warm - approved! We also appreciated the hydraulic platform, capable of lifting the powerful tender. ► Underway, the comfort and low noise levels from the engines are surprising, even at full throttle (1,950 rpm at 17 knots). The Lagoon Eighty 3 proves to be a genuine ocean-going multiyacht, capable of making a transatlantic crossing. Hull #1 reveals a tasteful yachting touch with its metallic turquoise coachroof and black hardtop. ► Sailing purists will certainly find fault with a catamaran that favors large coachroof windows over sharp bows, does away with the trampolines and, in the process, adds a forward door. ► They may even grit their teeth a little when they discover a coachroof arch that provides direct access to the helm station, which features a “car-door”-style edge to starboard. The same goes for the dual standing/seated helm seat. Nor will they appreciate the tender crane - despite how practical it is when combined with wide aft platforms and a fixed platform - or all the robust stainless-steel fittings. Is there any point continuing with the air conditioning, refrigeration capacity and overall comfort? ► Our view? The designers have taken all the best ideas from powerboating and intelligently applied them to sailing - well done! ► Our quick assessment, ahead of the full test to be published very soon, during our delivery trip between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël revealed a boat that is very well thought out for both Owner and charter use. Under gennaker, with less than 8 knots of wind, the Aquila maintained a steady 5 knots, proving that it could quickly do without its engines. The Aquila 50’s little brother sold six units during the Cannes Yachting Festival - “one a day,” jokes Nick Harvey, the brand’s Sales Director… ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Aquila Catamarans Construction: Vinylester infusion Length: 47'2" (14.38 m) Beam: 25'6" (7.77 m) Draft: 5'1" (1.56 m) Upwind Sail Area: 1,352 sq ft (125.6 m²) Gennaker: 1,200 sq ft (111.5 m²), optional Powertrain: 2 × 50 / 57 / 60 hp Volvo Penta Fuel: 164 US gal (620 l) Cabins: 3/4 Price: US$ 699,000 ► www.aquilaboats.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► This powercat stands out with a radically different approach from most of its competitors: at just 13' (3.97 m) wide and 41'7" (12.67 m) long, its dimensions are comparable to those of a monohull of the same size. ► These proportions are already well proven on American multipowers and Persian Gulf powercats designed for big-game fishing, but remain unprecedented on recreational powercats, which are usually around 3'3" (1 m) wider. The objective is clear: to make marina berths easier to access while retaining the advantages of a multihull platform - stability, generous deck area and reduced fuel consumption. Its typically Italian clean design, minimalist yet luxurious accommodation and construction in Viareggio clearly position this model in the premium segment. During our quick outing in Cannes, we reached 37 knots aboard prototype hull #1 in great comfort; the Vybe 43 should comfortably exceed 40 knots once optimization is complete. The builder is also working on three new models: a 53, a 66 and a 77. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Cantiere del Vybe Architect: Adam Younger Length: 41'7" (12.67 m) Beam: 13' (3.97 m) Powertrain: 2 × 480 hp inboards or 2 × 600 hp outboards Max Speed: 53/46 knots Fuel: 502 US gal (1,900 l) Cabins: 2 ► www.vybe.yachts ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Arriving in Cannes for its world premiere, the BC60 is the smallest model in Bering Yachts’ Expedition range, but certainly not the least ambitious. ► Built entirely in aluminum in Antalya, Turkey, this powercat adopts the same principles as the builder’s larger expedition yachts: autonomy, considerable storage capacity, crew protection and the ability to spend long periods away from marinas. Hull #1, which we discovered in Cannes, takes this approach even further, with a fully enclosed flybridge - an open version is standard - and instrumentation worthy of a genuine ship. ► Aft, the large movable platform is one of the powercat’s clever features. ► Inside, it is above all the feeling of space that stands out. ► This first unit features an Owner’s suite, two guest cabins, a crew cabin and a laundry room, but Bering offers layouts with four to six cabins. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Bering Yachts Construction: Aluminum Length: 62' (18.9 m) Beam: 25'7" (7.8 m) Powertrain: 2 × 425 hp Cruising Speed: 8 knots Max Speed: 12 knots Range: Up to 3,500 nm at 8 knots Cabins: 4 to 6 ► www.beringyachts.com ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
