We're back at sea! This episode follows our family as we sail over 700 nautical miles along the remote southern coast of Java. With the trade winds finally starting to fill in, we make the most of our first real opportunity to head further west through Indonesia - no stops, no signal, just wide open ocean and off-grid life. Kris heads off on a quick visa run (thanks to a bureaucratic hiccup), leaving Mum to take each of the kids on a little surprise one-on-one "Mum date" before setting sail. We prep for the passage with provisioning, fuel, and weather routing, and then it's time to go remote. From life at sea to anchoring in a wild jungle spot, this episode captures what it's really like to sail full-time as a family - the beauty, the logistics, and the little moments that make it all worthwhile. ? Watch as we: - Sail 700nm along Java's southern coast - Anchor off a remote jungle - Navigate visa runs and family life - Go off-grid with four kids onboard ? ? From Calm to Chaos-We Did NOT See This Coming! It's the worst storm we've had with 40+knots and running off with bare poles. This was supposed to be a straightforward passage-two nights at sea, motoring across glassy waters, dodging the usual FADs (fish aggregating devices). But then, out of nowhere, everything changed. With no warning, the wind roared in, lightning cracked across the sky, and we found ourselves battling a sudden storm with bare poles. The rain poured relentlessly, soaking everything in its path-and ripped things from the deck. We were freezing cold, drenched, and trying to keep control as the wind howled around us. Things can change in an instant out here, and this night was a serious reminder of that. Watch as we navigate one of the most unexpected and intense weather shifts we've faced while sailing through Indonesia. ? Want to support our journey? Parasailor vs. Spinnaker - which is the BEST for Sailing the WORLD? Is a Parasailor really the ultimate downwind sail, or have we been missing out on something better? In this episode, we put our beloved Big Red (Parasailor) head-to-head with a brand-new Purple (Cruising Spinnaker) to see which one truly performs best for cruising. With unpredictable conditions, shifting winds, and real-world sailing scenarios, this isn't a lab test- it's an genuine look at how these two sails handle life at sea. We conducted three key tests: ? Downwind Sailing Test: How well does each sail perform when sailing deep downwind? Which is faster, more stable, and easier to handle? ?? Yaw Radius Test: How much can we steer off course before the sail collapses? Does one give us more flexibility? ? Reaching Test: Which sail performs better when sailing at an angle to the wind? Is the Parasailor limited to straight-downwind sailing? The conditions weren't perfect-we started with gusty 20-knot winds and ended up barely keeping the sails flying in 6 knots of breeze-but that just made the experiment even more real. By the end of the day, we had a clear winner-but it might not be the one you expect... ? Watch to find out which sail we'll be using more in the future! ? What's your go-to sail for light winds?
