Ee take one last break from sailing before returning to No Regrets and continuing our journey through the Mediterranean. This time, we're heading inland to the extraordinary region of Cappadocia, Turkey! Cappadocia is famous for its surreal landscapes, towering fairy chimneys and ancient settlements carved into the rock. We explore the Göreme and Zelve Open-Air Museums, visit Uçhisar Castle, admire Love Valley, venture deep underground into the remarkable city of Derinkuyu, and discover the hidden churches of Ihlara Valley and the impressive Selime Cathedral. But the highlight of our trip has to be getting up before sunrise for a hot-air balloon ride. Watching the balloons inflate in the darkness before floating above Cappadocia's incredible landscape as the sun rises is an experience we'll never forget. And our landing brings us surprisingly close to the crowds gathered below! Then it's time to return to the coast and get back to sailing. As we leave Oasis Marina, we watch helicopters tackling a nearby wildfire before completing our exit formalities at Çeşme and setting sail for Greece. After crossing to Chios, we have a few challenges trying to clear in without an agent, before enjoying a fantastic spinnaker sail south to Samos. With the spectacular Mount Kerkis towering above our anchorage, we finish the day with drone views of the beautiful bay and dinner at a little restaurant on the beach. Our final land adventure is over, and it's time to get back to what we love — sailing the Greek islands aboard No Regrets! Join us for another adventure with Sailing No Regrets. Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream of exploring the world by boat! Our sailing adventure began in January 2019 aboard our Seawind 1260 catamaran, No Regrets. We explored Australia’s east coast before sailing to beautiful New Caledonia. Over the following years, we continued north, eventually circumnavigating Australia in 2021 and 2022 and discovering some truly incredible places along the way. In 2024, we began the next chapter of our adventure aboard our new Seawind 1370, No Regrets II, taking our sailing journey beyond Australia and into the wider world. We weren’t always sailors. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing grew after crewing in South Australia. Before long, we’d taken the leap into full-time life on the water! Through our channel, Sailing No Regrets, we share the highs, challenges and unforgettable moments of life aboard a cruising catamaran — from remote anchorages and amazing destinations to the realities of sailing long distances and exploring new countries. We were inspired by other YouTube sailing channels to chase our own dream, and we hope our adventures might inspire you to follow yours, whatever that may be. So come along for the ride! If you enjoy our videos, don't forget to like, comment and subscribe. We'd love to have you join us on our journey. Life's too short for regrets — come sailing with us!

Returning to No Regrets at Oasis Marina in Yenifoça, Turkey, we took the opportunity to visit the new Seawind factory. Kivanc, General Manager of Seawind Europe, kindly took us on a personal tour, showing us around the facility and giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process. We saw Seawind 1170 catamarans at various stages of construction, from the early stages of fabrication through to boats nearing completion. As owners of a Seawind 1370, it was fascinating to see how its smaller sister, the Seawind 1170, is built and to meet the team responsible for bringing these boats to life. A big thank you to Kivanc and his team for showing us around and making us feel so welcome! Join us for a look inside Seawind's new factory in Turkey. Our journey continues along the Turkish coast as we sail from Bodrum to Didim and then north to Yenifoça, exploring some of the beautiful coastline and historic towns along the way. In Bodrum, we drop the anchor right in front of the spectacular Bodrum Castle, giving us an incredible view of this historic fortress from the water. We then continue north to Didim, a popular Turkish tourist destination, before making our way to Yenifoça. With No Regrets safely left in Izmir, we take a break from sailing and fly to Istanbul for a few days of exploring. We visit the magnificent Blue Mosque and Dolmabahçe Palace, before taking a ferry along the Bosphorus and seeing this incredible city from the water. But the adventure doesn't stop there. We fly back to Egypt for a Red Sea liveaboard diving adventure. We had booked this trip before setting off on our journey, and it was one of the reasons we didn't stop along the Egyptian coast when we sailed through earlier. Stopping with No Regrets along the Egyptian coast would have been difficult and expensive, so returning by air made much more sense. While we're in Egypt, we also take a week-long cruise down the Nile, travelling from Luxor to Aswan and exploring some of Egypt's incredible ancient history, including the Valley of the Kings and the magnificent temples along the river. From sailing the Turkish coast and anchoring beneath a medieval castle, to exploring Istanbul, diving the Red Sea and cruising the ancient Nile — this episode takes us well beyond the usual sailing adventure. In this episode, we sail through the stunning Gocek region of Turkey, exploring secluded bays, ancient ruins and some of the most incredible scenery along the coast. We begin at Gocek National Park, where we explore the famous Cleopatra’s Baths before continuing west to Asi Koyu, an idyllic bay surrounded by towering cliffs. From there, we head to Ciftlik, where we’re amused by the restaurant owners standing on their waterfront jetties, enthusiastically waving and trying to flag down incoming boats to convince them to stop at their restaurant. We eventually find a stunning, unnamed bay surrounded by towering mountains and incredible shades of Mediterranean blue. Flying the drone gives us a whole new perspective on just how beautiful this remote coastline really is. But when it’s time to leave, things take an unexpected turn. As we untie our Med Mooring setup, we reveal that during the night we had a very near-miss accident that could have ended very differently. Our final stop is Knidos, where we explore the extensive ruins of this once-important ancient city, strategically positioned at the tip of the Datça Peninsula. Another spectacular stretch of the Turkish coast, with beautiful anchorages, ancient history, unexpected moments and plenty of adventure aboard No Regrets. After seven years of creating sailing content, we take a well-earned break from filming and spend a month exploring Cyprus. We visit Larnaca, Nicosia and Paphos, dive the famous Zenobia shipwreck, and explore incredible sites including Kolossi Castle, Kykkos Monastery and the ancient ruins of Nea Paphos. Eventually, it’s time to get moving again. We clear out of Ayia Napa Marina and sail to the tiny Greek island of Kastellorizo, where a colourful waterfront town sits beneath the mountains. We explore this magical little island, swim in the Blue Cave and visit the ancient Lycian Tomb before checking out and making the short 3.8 nautical mile passage to Kaş, Turkey. In this bumper episode, we get an early-morning wake-up call from the Suez Canal Authority as our transit time is suddenly brought forward to 5am. We begin our journey through the canal, stopping at Ismailia Marina to refuel before continuing to our marina berth. Unfortunately, we soon discover that No Regrets has picked up some heavy oil during the passage, leaving ugly stains running down her sides. As we aren't allowed to clean the hulls ourselves, divers have to be brought in to get her looking respectable again. With the boat secure, we head into Cairo with a police escort to explore some of Egypt's incredible history. We visit the Pyramids of Giza, Salah El Din Citadel, St Marcus Church and the Zabbaleen — the "Garbage People of Cairo" — before exploring some of the ancient pyramids at Saqqara, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, and the Red and Bent Pyramids. Finally, after an incredible journey through Egypt, we check out and return to the Suez Canal to complete our transit, emerging into the Mediterranean Sea. In this episode, we explore the ancient ruins of Suakin's White City before heading into the modern town to stock up on provisions. We drive through the streets and get a confronting glimpse of everyday life in one of the world's poorest countries stopping at the tiny supermarket and the fresh produce markets. We then continue north, stopping overnight at Marsa Gwiliab as the northerly winds increase. The following day brings a huge Sahara Desert sandstorm, followed just six hours later by a powerful electrical storm and intense winds in the pitch-black of night. Finally, we reach Port Suez, weaving through a huge field of anchored ships before being measured and prepared for our transit of the Suez Canal. In this episode, we leave Socotra behind and begin a 1,248 nautical mile journey through some of the most challenging and dangerous waters of our voyage. But as we leave, the situation in the region is rapidly escalating, with the conflict between the US and Iran making an already dangerous passage feel even more uncertain. Our route takes us across the Gulf of Aden, through the Bab-el-Mandeb and past the Hanish Islands — a notorious stretch of water with a long history of piracy. With tensions rising and the threat of conflict adding another layer of uncertainty, we know this is going to be a passage unlike any other. Along the way, we are approached by a skiff which, thankfully, turns out to be a fishing boat rather than pirates. We trade a few tins of food with the fishermen before continuing our journey. After 10 days at sea, we finally arrive in Suakin, Sudan, but our challenges aren't over. We soon discover that widespread GPS spoofing has made our chart plotters unreliable, leaving us without a usable electronic position. With no electronic charts available to help us navigate, we need to find another way to determine exactly where we are. Chris explains how we use Starlink as a positioning service and, in a rather unconventional setup, feed that position data back into our chart plotter and NMEA network. It's a fascinating technical solution to a very real navigation problem — and another reminder that when you're sailing in some of the world's most remote waters, you need to be prepared when the technology you normally rely on suddenly stops working. In this episode, we arrive in Socotra during the day, but rather unusually, we have to wait until 9pm before we can officially check in. Most immigration offices would be long closed by then, but here things work a little differently! The following morning, we set off on the first day of our tour around this incredible and remote island. We visit Flamingo Pond, discover the strange and fascinating Socotra Bottle Trees, and head into Kalisan Canyon (White Canyon) for a swim in its crystal-clear, emerald-green water. We then make our way to Arher Beach, where massive sand dunes rise dramatically above the coastline, before finishing the day with a local dinner with our host and guides. Day two takes us to the iconic Socotra Dragon Blood Trees, including a visit to a Dragon Tree nursery where we learn just how incredibly slowly these unique trees grow. Jo meets some young local boys and gives them books and pencils, which are met with very eager hands and plenty of smiles. We have lunch at Wadi Dirhur (Dixam Gorge), sharing the experience with some very friendly goats and curious Egyptian vultures, before continuing along the coast to see the abandoned Soviet-era T-34 tanks rusting beside the road. We finish the day with a swim at the spectacular Detwah Lagoon before heading back into town to pick up some provisions. Shopping turns into another adventure, with the local currency unavailable from ATMs and US dollars only accepted if they are essentially brand-new, large-denomination notes! Socotra is already proving to be unlike anywhere we have visited before. In this episode, we take on a 1,200-nautical-mile crossing of the Indian Ocean, sailing from Uligan in the Maldives towards Socotra. As we cross the Arabian Sea, we tackle a noisy problem high above us, servicing the mast sheaves in an attempt to silence a persistent creak. But it's what's happening around us that has us on edge. Twice, boats believed to be fishing vessels approach and attempt to come alongside. With active piracy warnings in the region, we're understandably very wary of any unidentified boats getting too close. We also catch a beautiful tuna along the way and show you how we report our position and passage to UKMTO, along with some of the piracy warnings and advisories we receive during the crossing. As we near Socotra, the passage takes another unexpected turn. We become trapped among multiple fishing nets, each stretching for more than 9 nautical miles. We're incredibly grateful to be travelling with two other yachts, allowing us to work our way through the maze together. But it's not without incident, with one of the boats becoming completely entangled and having to get into the water to cut themselves free. Finally, after 1,200 nautical miles, we reach the remote and extraordinary island of Socotra. 1,200 nautical miles, piracy warnings, unidentified boats, miles of fishing nets and a long stretch of open ocean — this is a passage we won't forget. From above, the drone captures just a glimpse of this breathtaking paradise, revealing crystal-clear waters, pristine reefs, and spectacular snake-shaped sandbars. Keen to experience everything the atoll has to offer, we join a local guide who takes us on an unforgettable adventure. We swim with gentle nurse sharks, hand-feed friendly batfish, drift dive the outer reef walls in exhilarating currents, and explore Goidhoo Island, where fresh water lies just beneath the sandy surface, allowing locals to grow much of the fruit and vegetables supplied throughout the Maldives. After clearing into Malé, we set off to explore the spectacular islands of the Maldives. Our first stops are Guraidhoo and Fulidhoo, where we wander through the small island villages, walk the beautiful beaches, and experience everyday life in the Maldives. Along the shoreline, we encounter the friendly stingrays that visit the beaches each day before heading to a nearby reef for an unforgettable swim with gentle nurse sharks. Returning to Crossroads Marina near Malé, we explore the bustling capital, stock up on fresh provisions at the local markets, and refuel No Regrets II before continuing our adventure. Before departing, we tackle one final maintenance job, replacing the seized top bearing on our screecher furler. With smooth furling restored, No Regrets II is once again ready for the next passage. From vibrant island communities and incredible marine life to essential boat maintenance, this episode showcases both the beauty and the realities of cruising the Maldives. 🏝️⚓🦈 Timestamps if you like to Jump Right In: 00:00 Intro 00:31 Leaving Male 01:50 Guraidhoo Island 02:54 Fulidhoo Island 04:13 Swim with Nurse Sharks 06:17 Crossroads Marina, Male 08:00 Refuelling 09:02 Screecher bearing replacement WHO ARE WE? Just one month after completing the repairs from our devastating lightning strike, it's finally time to put No Regrets II to the test. In this episode, we pull anchor in Phuket and set sail west on our 1,500-nautical-mile Indian Ocean crossing to Malé, Maldives. Thankfully, we're rewarded with beautiful downwind sailing, with only one minor maintenance issue along the way—a welcome change after replacing so much of the boat's electrical and navigation systems. Ten nights later, we make landfall in the Maldives, completing our first major ocean crossing since the lightning strike and proving that No Regrets II is ready for her next adventure. In this episode, we pick up where we left off before the devastating lightning strike at Panjang Island interrupted our regular series. Before the chaos unfolds, we wanted to share some incredible drone footage of the enormous white sand spit and this beautiful anchorage—a place that, just hours later, would change everything. We then skip ahead, past the journey of getting No Regrets II safely back to Phuket, where the real work begins. With an enormous repair list ahead of us, we get stuck into transforming the boat. We enclose the rear seating area, just as we had on our old Seawind 1260, create valuable extra galley storage by opening up the saloon seat and fibreglassing in a brand-new cupboard, replace the hybrid induction/gas cooktop with a full induction cooktop, get both engines running perfectly again, complete most of the electrical repairs after the lightning strike, and renew the antifoul while raising the bow's waterline by 60mm. Incredibly, after just three weeks of repairs, upgrades and maintenance, No Regrets II is ready to return to the water. Although there's still plenty left to finish, we're determined to salvage what remains of the Christmas holidays with our family, who have flown over to spend Christmas with us. We set sail for Belitung expecting a straightforward passage, but before long one of our engines begins to fail. After investigating, we discover the culprit — the dreaded diesel bug. With contaminated fuel clogging our filters, we find ourselves troubleshooting the problem at sea. As filter after filter blocks up, we replace them and put our fuel polishing system to work, only for that to become clogged as well. Determined to keep moving, we continue toward Belitung, arriving after dark and carefully weaving our way through hundreds of fishing boats using radar to navigate safely through the maze. Once safely at anchor, the work really begins. We climb inside the fuel tank and remove the remaining diesel bug contamination, hoping to finally put an end to the problem before it strands us again. Finally, we drop anchor off beautiful Tanjung Kelayang Beach, catch our breath, and spend the afternoon clearing out of Indonesia before the next leg of our adventure. We leave Nusa Lembongan and sail along Bali's rugged northern coastline, passing hundreds of traditional sailing boats hauled up onto the black sand beaches. Their white hulls line the shoreline as far as the eye can see, creating a striking contrast against the dark volcanic sand. Out on the water, however, many of these beautiful vessels are under sail, their colourful sails brightening the horizon and adding a splash of colour to the dramatic coastline. Along the way, we're treated to some amazing wildlife encounters. A small pod of pilot whales makes an appearance, followed by a large group of playful dolphins that spend time surfing our bows and racing alongside No Regrets II. After a mid-passage refuelling stop, we arrive at the wonderfully welcoming town of Sangkapura on Bawean Island. From the moment we step ashore, we're greeted with warm hospitality, including the chance to sample a traditional local fish dish. The locals then take us to a nearby school, where students eagerly practice their English with us—much to our embarrassment, as their English is far better than our Indonesian! Not content to stay in town, we hire scooters and set off to explore the island, visiting a beautiful freshwater volcanic lake and taking in the laid-back charm of Bawean. We finish the day at a local doughnut shop, where our unexpected visit leaves the ladies behind the counter both delighted and slightly bemused. From dolphins and whales to warm smiles and island hospitality, this is a side of Indonesia few travellers ever get to experience. 🌴⚓🐬 Timestamps if you like to Jump Right In: 00:00 Intro 00:33 Leaving Lembongan 04:10 Pilot Whales and Dolphins 05:27 Refuelling from our bladders 10:49 Bawean 11:52 Scooter to the lake WHO ARE WE? We head to Moyo Island, where we hire scooters and ride through the jungle to the stunning, multi-tiered limestone Mata Jitu Waterfall—also known as Lady Diana Waterfall. It earned its nickname after Princess Diana visited this remote, pristine jungle retreat in 1993. From there, we continue on to Nusa Lembongan for a couple of days of diving on exceptional coral reefs, alive with abundant fish life and the hope of spotting a sunfish. We’re impressed by just how healthy the reefs are and the sheer density of marine life, though we’re also surprised by how busy one site in particular is—Manta Point. We leave Komodo National Park and sail towards the extinct volcanic island of Satonda, off the northern coast of Sumbawa. Famous for its unique saltwater crater lake hidden at the centre of the island, Satonda is an incredible place to visit. The anchorage, however, is very limited, and just beyond it the seafloor plunges to depths of over 1,000 metres as the volcano drops away into the ocean. We stop only for the day, with several of the other rally boats jumping aboard No Regrets to explore the island together. Continuing on to Sumbawa, we’re welcomed by some of the friendliest locals we’ve ever met, making this stop just as memorable as the destination itself. But the real highlight comes before sunrise, as we wake early for a truly unforgettable experience — swimming alongside majestic whale sharks. Seeing these enormous yet gentle creatures up close was absolutely breathtaking and something we will never forget.
