We've left Isabella and are becoming dirt dwellers, swallowed the anchor, and moved to the hard. Well...not really. You know living on Isabella is a joy for us and we have left her only temporarily for a visit with family and friends in Southern California. Join us to learn about our preparations to secure our boat before going ashore. Isabella is secured to the dock with 3/4 inch dock lines at her stern, bow and spring lines which come out from midship to cleats on the dock. When we leave, all those are checked and often doubled up for extra support. She weighs 50,000 pounds so in a big blow Isabella can really tug on the dock cleats and we don't want her cruising away without us. Beyond that, plants have to be moved around, some thru hulls will be closed and the water pump will be turned off. We definitely don't want to come back to a flooded home.
