We were the test subjects for the first ever Moorea Food Tour

For me it’s the people you meet and the time you spend getting to know a place that makes the experiences special. With travel you can tick of the “must see” locations, or the highest rated restaurants and bars, or stay in coolest hotels as many as you can fit in a trip. But as we keep learning, an area does not open its self up to you quickly and only happens after genuine connections with the locals. We have been spending quite a bit of time the past few weeks in Moorea and met a positive, smiling, passionate local lady, Laurence Anzai and her equally cool family. Laurence runs a café – Lilikoi Garden Café Moorea, a Deli, a hiking group, yacht services, event catering and now she is looking to start a Local Food Tour! Like me, Laurence is passionate about local organic produce, sustainable farming and great notorious food. So she invited Barry, Cyn and myself to be her very first participants on her Moorea Food Tour. We had so much fun, learnt about local farming, cultural traditions in Polynesia, where to source our produce along the way and finished the day with a cooking class and enjoying the delicious creations in a stunning location.
