We test out the speed and best place to mount our 5hp outboard on our Portland Pudgy dinghy.
We get to push our Portland Pudgy down a hill to the water using the installed wheel. Then we show how the weaver davit system attaches to our Gulfstar 44 Motorsailor. A maximum of 3hp outboard is recommended... so of course we put on a 5hp... cause I use to own a MacGregor 26X and had a 90 hp on it (50 hp max was recommended). I have a speed problem... I admit it. We test out different ways to mount it, with and without the rudder installed. Then we bring the Admiral out for a 2 person test. 0:00 Launching 0:46 Boat Plug! 2:24 Dinghy bag 5:26 Weaver Davits 8:38 Removing Weaver Davits 10:05 Lowering the Outboard 12:24 Why a 5hp outboard 12:50 Starting the outboard 15:00 Charging wire 16:15 Fuel Tank Modification 21:23 Tiller extension 24:30 1st Speed Test 25:30 Mount motor on port side 27:08 2nd Speed Test 28:00 Install Rudder 30:00 Prop hits Rudder! 32:00 Correct tilt on Motor for Tiller 34:54 3rd Speed Test 37:08 2 People on board test 38:18 4th Speed Test
