On the other hand, a heavy outboard hanging on the stern rail is at best a flag of convenience. How about a Torqueedo electric outboard motor, which is smaller, lighter, and comes apart for easy storage belowdecks with no fluids to leak or stain the doilies? The jury will be out for a while on the question of lifespan and battery endurance, but the initial impression is good.
