This second installment of our Boulder Island Mini-Series focuses on our terrestrial work on Boulder Island, the animals and the mapping process. We criss-crossed the island, taking 1000's of pictures and surveying everything to determine what is exactly on Boulder Island. We will continue to study and explore this island, finding new birds, animals and species! Next Episode: Boulder Island: Marine Life! Our Wrapup of season two and hopes for the continuous work in the coming years! With several hundred nautical miles behind us we visited a whole series of Islands that are part of the majestic Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar. One of the last pristine island groups in the world, yet untouched and not overrun by tourism and industries. More than 150 species could be identified, many of the endangered around the world. Adding even more of a reason to the key of why we are here: Protecting the Mergui Archipelago and declaring the whole area as one Big Marine Protected Area or No Take Zone. This would mean no more fishing, no access for Tourism or other industries and make sure, that coral reefs will stay as pristine as they are now with recovering fish stocks all around them At the moment still a dream, but with continuous hard work and your support it can become a reality!
