The Willem Johannes The Willem Johannes, affectionately known as WJ, is more than just a sailboat - it's a dream come true for its owners, Robin Middel and Patty-lou Middel-Leenheer. This magnificent vessel represents the culmination of their lifelong passion for sailing and their desire for greater freedom on the water. The Crew Robin (born 1968) and Patty-lou (born 1969) are the proud captains of the Willem Johannes. Their love for the water runs deep, shaping both their personal and professional lives. The couple's sailing journey began in 2005 with a modest 28-foot Fellowship, which they sailed for over a decade. This boat became the foundation for their twin sons, Bram and Rob (born 1999), to develop their own passion for sailing. After their initial sailing experiences, Robin and Patty-lou upgraded to a 36-foot Catalina, which they enjoyed for five wonderful years. However, their thirst for adventure and the call of the open sea led them to take an even bigger step. A New Chapter In 2022, Robin and Patty-lou discovered the Willem Johannes in Harlingen, Netherlands, and it was love at first sight. This new vessel represents not just a larger boat, but a gateway to more ambitious journeys and the freedom they've always dreamed of. Crew Members No crew is complete without its faithful companions. The Willem Johannes is home to Rif, the current ship dog who fearlessly faces any sea. While their former dog, Gaffel, sadly passed away on November 6, 2023, she remains an eternal part of the crew in spirit. Sharing the Adventure Robin and Patty-lou's passion for sailing extends beyond their personal experiences. They are committed to sharing their adventures and stories with a growing community of fellow sailing enthusiasts. Through their journeys on the Willem Johannes, they invite others to sail along vicariously and experience the thrill of life on the water.
