After the excitement of the Olympic flame passing right by Tapatya, we set off to sail to Brest bay, rounding the strongly tidal cape at Barfleur, crossing the infamous Race of Alderney and rounding Ushant. This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of.
