This video was filmed many years ago during a beautiful sailing day with steady 15-knot winds. The boat you see here is the very first generation Smart Cat S280. If you look closely, you'll notice the original mainsail and jib sail design. Today's Smart Cat S280 features upgraded sails that deliver even better sailing performance. You'll also see the original manually lifted metal engine brackets used on the first-generation boats. The new SmartCat S280 now comes with a solid fiberglass engine bracket that allows the outboard engines to tilt completely clear of the water. Even though this is an older model, it's fun to see how well the original SmartCat S280 performed in ideal sailing conditions.
