We set out to cross the Red Sea from north to south knowing this stretch of water carries real risk. Active pirate alerts were being reported as we approached the high-risk zone near Yemen — and right in the middle of it all, we experienced the best fishing of our entire voyage. Fish after fish hit our lines while tension quietly built on the horizon. Mid-crossing, a piracy distress signal came through directly along our heading. Excitement and uncertainty collided as we pushed south, balancing vigilance with the unbelievable abundance around us.
