Sailing to Avalon and Scuba Diving at Night on SV Triteia

On this episode I solo sail to Avalon on Catalina Island to meet my brother Colby and our friend Jimmy Shannon for a weekend of diving at Avalon’s dive park that is situated at the foot of the iconic Casino Building. After a mellow sail / motorsail I was escorted into the harbor by a pod of dolphins and a sunfish. This was the first time I had sailed into Avalon, previously all of my visit had been by ferry and I crept through the mooring field after getting my slip and paying my fees at sea to the harbor master. They got me in as close to the dive park as they could which made for a nice stay only a few minutes row in the sabot to the dingy dock. On the night I arrived Colby and myself did my first ever night dive and it is a memory that will last the rest of my life. It felt like a movie as we made our way through the darkness with only the small beam of light from our torches reveling the abundance of life at night. It was also mildly terrifying.
