Xoxo B+B -------------------------------------------------------- Episode 251 Recently we sailed our tiny home all the way from Florida, 1000 nm to Newport Rhode Island. Along the way we have encountered some tricky paths. From the tight shallow entrance of Ocracoke, North Carolina to bendy, thin waters of Oregon Inlet to the rip roaring cut of Ocean City, Maryland and today we are going to brave The Devil's Belt. Never heard of that? Well let me tell you a story, as legend has it, the local Sewanoy people chased the devil out of their tribal area in present-day Westchester. The devil picked up huge boulders and tossed them into the sound, using them as stepping stones to make his escape south onto Long Island. Since then many ships have been lost trying unsuccessfully to maneuver around these stones and other rocky reefs in what you may know as Long Island sound.
