RUDDER UPGRADES - Making molds from 2007 America's Cup rudders

In this installment we get finish the rudder moulds for our new rudders and Shayne gets a bit excited about a discovery which is potentially our answer to how we can build the winglets on the rudders. In addition to the professional help building our rudders, we have another good friend making spectra strops for our sidestays. As many of you would already know, we took an old Team New Zealand America's Cup rig which was destined for the rubbish and made a new rotating wing mast for our Catana catamaran. https://youtu.be/U6hi4liqh80 To save on cost, we kept the original wire sidestays and forestay. As the mast section we used was so strong, there was no need to add spreaders but after sailing a few times with our new square top mainsail (which Anna made from an old 72ft superyacht delivery main) https://youtu.be/4KnVA8-n3D8 we decided to add some aramid lowers to strengthen the mid section of the mast. The spectra loops we make in this video are to be used to attach the wire sidestays to the mast. We finally get to have a look at what the new rudders look like when Kent glues the first one on and Paikea starts to look a bit more modern when we get the primer on the hull.
