RSHYR 2024 | Double Handed Challenge
The four Double Hander teams on this morning’s CYCA panel were given a rigorous test of their boat skills at the Race Village afterwards. The challenge was for one team member from each boat to put on their wet weather gear while holding a cup of coffee in one hand (water, for safety purposes in this instance!), run ‘down below’ to wake up their ‘sleeping’ partner who had to run up ‘on deck’ and pack a spinnaker. The father and son team of Martin and John Cross (‘Transcendence Rudy Project’) were convincing winners on Line Honours, with mother and daughter team Annette Hesselmans and Sophie Snijder (Fika) running second. The CYCA is still working out the Handicap Winner, based on a complex rule relating to spinnaker size and age! The four teams of competitors were: • Wendy Tuck and Meg Niblett – Gizmo • Martin and John Cross - Transcendence Rudy Project • Christopher Canty and Shona Forsyth – Sailor Moon • Annette Hesselmans and Sophie Snijder - Fika
