Rescue during Tropical Storm Isaias! [REAL TIME UPDATE 4]

July 30, 2020 In this episode, we show you what it's like to rescue a sailing vessel still attached to a defunct mooring, as Tropical Isaias hits us. Prior to this rescue, as the outer bands hit Luperon, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, several boats broke free from their mooring. The harbor community is amazing and many cruisers jumped in their dinghy's to offer help and rescue support. Tropical Storm Isaias made a direct hit on Dominican Republic's north shore, specifically Luperon. We rode the storm out which quickly became a Cat 1 Hurricane just west of us. Winds in the harbor ranged from 35kts consistently with gusts up to at least 59kts. SUBSCRIBE for more videos coming soon! Featured in this video: - Davy from Barefoot Sail & Dive - At the request of our friends, who own the motor-sailer, we are not identifying the Captain or their vessel name. They are awesome people and we cannot wait to start exploring this island we've called home the last 5 months :) Thank you for watching - the best part of this community is the people who tirelessly assist and support each other. Had this storm been south of us by even 20 miles, this harbor would have been completely protected. Thank you also to the sailors before us for their wise advice, Sailing Uma, SV Delos, La Vagabonde, The Sailing Family, Sailing Doodles, SV Adromeda, Sailing Nahoa, Gone With The Wynns, and Distant Shores TV. You inspire so many of us. Credits to our buddies riding out this season here with us: Barefoot Sail and Dive, Bums on a Boat, and the countless salty sailors who live the dream away from the camera. Our hearts are with everyone who encounter and deal with real life and rescues during crazy storms. Stay safe everyone! All content is edited and produced exclusively by us.
