From New York to Lorient, 3,000 miles across the Atlantic. And for Malizia 4, it was the very first race. After more than two years of design, engineering and boatbuilding, our brand-new IMOCA finally faced her first real test: The Ocean Race Atlantic. Boris Herrmann, Cole Brauer, Justine Mettraux and Julien Villion knew the boat was fast. But racing a brand-new IMOCA across the Atlantic is a completely different challenge. From technical issues and unexpected problems to changing conditions and the constant pressure of racing, the crew had to adapt, troubleshoot and make decisions on the go.
