It was a wet start for NYYC American Magic on Monday morning with a displacement windward capsize right off the bat on the very first attempt at flight. No harm done, the superb chase boat team were in fast, and the boat was upright again in under three minutes. Speaking afterwards, Andrew Campbell gave a terrific interview with Mike Pedersen of the recon team in Pensacola and was delighted to be steering today, saying: “It's been fun driving the boat. It's been really good for me to be able to do some of the autopilot flight control that this system allows us to do and to see and understand how the boat reacts using that system is really valuable for us and it's been really valuable for the other guys to have another set of hands on the wheel to learn about how to communicate and how to deal with all the changes and new prompts and new ideas that a new driver comes with.
