As the weather had improved and the wind had moved to an easterly, it was time to leave Anaho Bay, say goodbye to all the manta rays and sail down to Baie Du Controleur. We had a good sail and when we dropped anchor in Baie Du Controleur, we were surrounded by manta rays again. Taking the dinghy ashore was exciting as you enter a small river on the dinghy and are followed by breaking seas. You need to ensure there aren't big waves as it may be a problem coming back out again. The village is small and incredibly beautiful. There is a small shop if you need some provisions so you can take your time and stay in this bay for a while. The walks are spectacular and you will see waterfalls surrounded by jungle. Watch out for the cows though as you may get charged like we did. We also spotted a lot of wild pigs. The locals have to hunt these by hand using traditional methods and may not use guns or rifles. The sail to Ua Pou was great. We spotted a lot of birds fishing though we had no luck when we put out our lures. Ua Pou is magical and I would love to have a small shack there. The bay we were in has a very small community with immaculate houses and gardens. I would definitely go there again if I was given the chance.
