Dominica has been said to be the only island Colombos would still recognise if he came back today due to it's wild unspoiled beauty. We were excited to see if this was true and organised a few inland trips to waterfalls, hot pools and also did the famous Indian river trip in Portsmouth. Dominica is still recovering from hurricane Maria one year ago which decimated most of her houses and ripped off the entire forest canopy, despite that level of damage it is astounding how quickly the island has recovered and rebuilt and the rainforests still amaze with their natural beauty (though we wish we had seen it before Maria). We also reunited with our old friends from SV Sophie who threw a big pig on the spit party for our friend Zoe's birthday - parties in Dominica are epic - all the locals joined in the fun and we had a night to remember for years to come. Enjoy exploring Dominica with us! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures!
