My $8 Hiking Straps

In this episode, I reveal how I added hiking straps to my P-16 sailing dinghy for under $25. I purchased two custom fabricated 54" long x 2" wide cargo straps from RatchetStrapsUSA (www.ratchetstraps.com) for $8 each. Then I used a spool of para coord ($9 on Amazon) to secure the straps to the boat. With sets of eye straps secured to the floor of the cockpit, I was ready to go! Adding hiking straps to a planing hull dinghy is a great way to improve performance because you can take full advantage of your human ballast and keep the boat flatter as the breeze picks up.
