We are still in Fakarava atoll in the Tuamotus, French Polynesia. This is one of our favourite places we have been to so far and we could be here for a while. As long as COVID doesn't make life too difficult, we will stay as long as we can. Dylan had done some diving in the Caribbean and was keen to do the wall of sharks dive in the south pass. As it had been a while since his last dive, Jean Francois from Yknot took Dylan for a refresher ahead of his 29 meter deep dive to see the wall of sharks which you will see in the next episode. Nathan also was given the opportunity to try diving for the first time and also did very well. He wasn't distracted by the sharks and groupers and was given great support by his friends. When we hear that the supply ship will be arriving in the north pass with fresh fruit and vegetables, we make a dash up north having a close race against Yknot which they didn't know about. The only way to beat them was to leave an hour earlier than them. It was a close finish and despite the lack of rules and no strict start time as well as a finish line chosen by us at the last minute ,Yknot nearly caught us. The ship had arrived and offloaded more supplies which we gathered up. It is a fine balance of having enough onboard but also not taking too much from the locals shop. We explore the town a bit and love it here. We also meet some of the locals who provide us with a lot of entertainment. With a boat full of provisions we head back down to the south of Fakarava to the South East corner motu called Harifa. This is also a great spot to visit. With questionable weather we sit tight for a couple of days and the boys enjoy a rain shower to freshen up. Alongside us is a large motor yacht called Redemption. Amazing in it's own right but then you see it's support vessel which has everything from Jeeps to aeroplanes onboard. They order too many supplies and share them out amongst the other yachts at anchor. Although they are on a super yacht, they are part of the cruising community. This is quite unusual as most larger yachts and motorboats distance themselves from everyone else and by doing this, they don't have the real experience and miss out on the best parts of this lifestyle and adventure that we are all having together. My suggestion to them is to join in like Redemption and I guarantee that you will have a far better time. Join us in the next episode we Dylan takes us down to the Wall of Sharks.
