She combines light displacement, slender hulls, high bridgedeck clearance, and a powerful sail plan — delivering excellent performance and comfort at sea. This film shows how Umadum sails offshore: • smooth motion in waves • reduced slamming and noise • strong light-wind sailing ability • efficient bluewater performance without stress Most passages were sailed under mainsail and gennaker, allowing the boat to keep sailing in light winds when heavier boats rely on engines. In steady trade-wind conditions, daily runs of 180–200 nautical miles were typical — simply sailing, without pushing. Umadum has fixed mini keels (no daggerboards), offering simplicity, reliability, and predictable handling offshore, while still delivering confident upwind performance. Built in France and launched in 2006, the boat features Western Red Cedar strip-planked hulls laminated with fiberglass and epoxy — strong, dry, and proven for ocean sailing.
