Japan Declares New State of Emergency Over Covid-19 Surge　 (新型コロナウイルスの感染再拡大を受け、日本政府は２度目の緊急事態宣言を発令)

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has declared a new state of emergency on Jan. 8 for Tokyo and 3 surrounding prefectures. It is the 2nd state of emergency in the country since the global pandemic broke out. Suga requested restaurants, Karaoke bars, gyms and other retail establishments to shorten their business hours.
