J109 Time Lapse - 2023 Frosties Regatta Race 1

The first week of the season ending Frosties Regatta at Strangford Lough Yacht Club were sailed in perfect conditions. With a steady 10 to 15 knots greeting the sailors for Race 1. The steady decline of the IRC 1 fleet on Strangford lough resulted in this regatta being a match race series between the J109 Going To Red and the A35 Le Bascular. The team on J109 GTR controlled the start pushing Le Bascular deep into the start box before accelerating away keep control of the A35 up the first beat. A decision to set at the top mark rather than gybing let the A35 back into the race, luckily for GTR the managed to pull of two quick gybes approaching mark 2 to get the inside track on the way down to the bottom mark. The team on GTR put a loose cover on for the rest of the race to stretch out for a comfortable victory in Race 1.
