J109 Jarhead Fast Downwind Sailing

While racing at SLYC this weekend it was great to meet Saul from Malta and hear about his adventures on J109 Jarhead. With the wind topping out at 47 kts during the 2021 Rolex Middle Sea Race there was no room for the faint hearted on the J109 Jarhead. With the two reefs in the main and the J3 the crew was sending it down the waves hitting a top speed of 25.9 kts while remaining in complete control. Saul and his crew made it look easy as the blasted down the waves. The sounds coming from the crew were a mix of pure excitement with a little bit of fear as they eat up the miles and the wind built to 47 kts.
