Is it any good? Light wind sailing performance with a heavy motor sailer. Nauticat 38
How does the Nauticat 38 perform under sail in light wind? Enjoy a short clip of the Nauticat 38 under sail! The boat is making good speed in about 12 knots of wind. You can see the boat life as we are boating and enjoying a pleasant day of yachting. This short video shows the 1982 Nauticat 38 S/Y Maja crossing the Oslo fjord from Sandefjord til Koster (Sweden) in light wind of 10-12 knots. You can see how she performs under sail only, and how she performs under sail and engine on combination. As this is a single handed cruise the main sail is not used. Using the main sail in addition would probably increase the speed by a knot, but I chose not to use the main sail today. S/Y Maja is sailing with quite new sails, and is steering herself by a Garmin auto pilot. If you like this video, you would most certainly also like a video of her sister S/Y Nina in the far north of Norway. You can see her under sail with the same topic - Does she sail? Have a look here: https://youtu.be/kZPcweiia5I?si=joMnDTIEAXdcAO7r @Stefanesai The Nauticat is a heavy and fantastic pilot house yacht made for comfortable cruising. This particular yacht has spend most of her life in the the Mediterranean Sea, and is now cruising between Norway, Sweden and Denmark to prepare herself for a new long voyage. Stay tuned.
