Getting ready to sail around the world and it doesn't look good

Last week was a big one. After a lot of late nights, a fair bit of begging, and squeezing everything in before everyone headed off on holiday, we finally got Showgirl back in the water. It felt like a huge milestone. The plan was simple: sail to Guernsey, test the new rig, practise my jury rig, and start building confidence in the boat again. Instead... I came back with more questions than answers. The good news is that the test did exactly what it was supposed to do. It showed me what still needs fixing. The bad news is that I'm not where I want to be yet. Right now, I don't trust the boat enough to take me around the world. And that's a difficult thing to admit. People often ask if I'm nervous about sailing solo for nine months. Honestly? I'm not scared of the ocean. I'm scared of leaving without having complete confidence in Showgirl. The Golden Globe Race starts on September 6th, whether I'm ready or not. There are no delays. No second chances. So these next few weeks are about one thing: fixing every issue I can, testing everything again, and stepping onto that start line knowing I've done absolutely everything possible to give Showgirl and me the best chance of making it all the way to the finish.
